Discussion: Turkish Officials Identify Possible Locations Of Khashoggi's Remains

It must be straining his nibs tiny brain trying to get his mind around the fact that even though he seems to love all authoritarians, they don’t like each other very much.

After all the nice things he’s said about Erdogan*, Erdogan is using trump to discredit the Saudis (like they need his help), and trump just doesn’t know which way to jump.

*I wish the news readers would get together on the correct pronunciation of Erdogan. The ‘g’ is pronounced like an English “w”. Think of him as a Star Wars character: Erdo Wan.

Thank you for “Erdo Wan” except I never intend to use his name in conversation.

Khashoggi, may he rest in peace.

I wondered about whether they would try to put his body on one of their planes. Seems unlikely if not impossible The plot thickens.

Cynical of me, I know, but I wonder if the delay Pompeo suggested to Agent Orange in rendering judgement was to allow the Saudis time to gather up the remains in Turkey. If the Turks knew where the other Saudi vehicle went, it could lead to finding things Agent Orange and the Saudis would not want the world to know.

“In and around Istanbul, to the east, north, west, and south somewhat.”

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

The most likely destination…

Most unlikely?

The Saudis were amazingly stupid to think that they could do this secretly and get away with it and even clumsier in their denials and their alternate theories. But at least they got rid of the body. Maybe they brought it home in those, previously reported, ‘big suitcases’. Next, they’ll behead most of the key players (and maybe a few innocents) to keep them from talking.

If the Saudis pull this off the big winner will be Putin. He’s wanted to break up NATO since he was a wee KGB spook and prying Turkey away from the West while leaving the Saudis looking culpable also helps weaken the western alliance in the Persian Gulf letting Iran fill the power vacuum. Putin’s been waiting for the right circumstances under which he could do it, and having a US president who’s engaged in money laundering with him and the other Russian oligarchs for years was that chance.

What’s my view worth? Trump wants to preserve the millions that Saudis invest in his properties. .Trump is all about the money. And he wants to encourage the millions in weapons the USA sells to the Saudis. Those are the weapons that kill the people of Yemen. Trump’s foreign policy is all about “me, me, me.”

We’ll eventually get the whole story, but they seem to have dissected this man alive.
A friggin’ horror show.

Meanwhile regarding Trump’s behavior/and uncredible explanations - Krugman had a powerful twitter thread comparing the (alleged) economic benefit of the Saudi “arms deal” compared to the size of the trade/exports to China (massively larger) that Trump is casually putting at risk with his Trade War.

In this instance, I’ll follow Donald Trump’s standard — the Saudi Clown Prince is guilty until he somehow proves himself innocent.

it’s a very soft g. A bit softer than the Kazakh қ, if that helps. In the new alphabet, it has become q. I am in a different country without even getting up from a chair!
“Welcome to Qazaqstan”.
Actually, I meant to write Kazakh “g”, but couldn’t remember a word that has it.
