Discussion: Tuesday's Election Results Torpedo The Dominant GOP Narrative ... Again

Discussion for article #222722

And in a week, all these spoilers will be readily embarrassed by the establishment, who will go out to the voters to tell them that there’s no “war” going on between the establishment and conservatives, they’re all buddy buddy.

More proof that the Republican Party IS Monty Python’s Silly Party. And it’s still having a fight between the Silly and Very Silly wings!

They just can’t help themselves.
The Star Trek quote is appropriate here:
KIRK: What I don’t understand is how were you able to identify our counterparts so quickly?
SPOCK: It was far easier for you as civilized men to behave like barbarians, than it was for them to behave like civilized men.

The GOP struggle can be looked at as one set of reactionary, entitled, petulant billionaires against another set of fascist, oligarchic, monopolistic billionaire a-holes.

I can hardly wait to see who wins,(not), but whoever wins America and democracy lose.

It’s almost fun to watch this horrid, hateful wreck of a party (and all the horrid, hateful people who power it) spin itself around its own axle. While GOPers are thumping their chests about off-year elections, they are chumping their faces in front of everyone . . . every time a Republican goes in front of the public it seems they say something head-crushingly stupid, racist, or otherwise mock-worthy.

I read the Chamber of Commerce’s comment that the GOP might as well throw in the towel for 2016 if they don’t address immigration reform. I’d add climate change to that.

What a perfect quote for the GOP. Half of their butthurt about the modern world seems to be the requirement that one act like a civilized, decent human being. It’s amazing how many excuses I’ve heard for their neanderthal behavior.

The myth of moderation in the GOP is lipstick, they are all pigs.

If I thought this would hurt their chances in November, I’d be much happier to hear the crazies are winning primaries. Instead, it’s just depressing that we’ll have more of the even crazier/stupider brand of R’s in congress.

The only difference between the GOP establishment and the GOPTP is that the establishment candidate is less likely to fling poo when the camera is on. No difference in policy and they won’t work across the isle.

Who cares, give them the Red-Red States. Unless they make a Akin, Murdock, etc… like ass out of themselves any Republican will win, even them. The establishment GOP doesn’t really care, they care about states where just any Republican isn’t the overwhelming favorite to win, like North Carolina, Georgia, Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Oregon, etc…and in those states the Tea Party wackos have been beaten back, at least at the Senate level so far.

What I find interesting is how beltway conventional wisdom is driven mostly by what the Republican establishment says it is. Reality has nothing to do with what Chris Cillizza, Chuck Todd, and their friends at Politico report.

and the minimum wage issue and unemployment and common sence gun regs etc etc with all that goin against them how can they lose???

You know, try being a candidate to people who don’t even know the capitol of their own state.

It’s not just the politicians fault, that things are shit. The voting populace is ignorant, selfish, and judgmental. They expect things from their candidates that they themselves can’t even live up to.

Blaming the “gubmint” is just a scapegoat for the laziness, complacency, and apathy of the preponderance of voters.

One of the fun things about the intra-party squabbling is that The attack ads for the fall tend to write themselves. When even your fellow republicans are calling you a dangerous loon…

At this point in the throes of our ignorance there is no blanket statement or belief that will apply. We are seeing totally, for the most part, prejudiced, ignorant people who are driving their thinking youth and many others in their states to leave. They will remain prejudiced and ignorant for a long time.
Also poor due to their own voting.

And if the Republican establishment is struggling now, just wait until they come up against the states that come earliest in the 2016 presidential primary.
