Discussion: Trump's Unfavorables Spike: 7 Of 10 Americans Now View Him Unfavorably

Was this poll before or after he accused US soldiers of stealing millions in Iraqi?

I’ve always thought it’s the built in resistance to a woman leading this country. There have been women elected as president, prime ministers, etc all over the world but still we can’t wrap our heads around out. It’s an anachronic, vague ā€œI don’t know, she’s a woman and it’s a man’s jobā€ kind of unwillingness, but this woman will show 'em.

Yup. He’s the loudmouth in the bar who’s had a few too many. Self-censorship gone, so he spouts a lot of offensive garbage, and impaired enough that he’s reduced to a fairly small collection of short stock phrases (ā€œloser,ā€ ā€œsad,ā€ ā€œsomething going on there,ā€ and so on).

All he talks about is himself and how great he is. And how he’s going to lord it over everyone else. His act is getting real old real fast.

It’s classic, textbook NPD, and people like that usually end up talking to an empty room.

Yes…but the coverage of her has already started to shift…marked with her foreign policy knockdown speech against Trump.

And the really interesting fact in this poll…Hillary is at 55% unfavorable…which is LESS than Trump’s 56% HIGHLY unfavorable.

Her numbers will improve, particularly when she is compared to Trump for several months…while his are, in the short term at least, going to take another tumble once the Orlando speech…which is widely being panned…and his attacks on the US military as a bunch of thieves…start to get baked in.

And right now, GOPers are only hoping that Trump stops hurting himself and them by proxy…there is no more talk about him turning things around.

Would Trump ever listen to people who tell hlm not to brag? Isn’t going to happen.

He knows he sounds robotic when he tries to sound presidential. He has to at least hang onto the 28% he’s got now. Acting presidential doesn’t get him anything but scorn…because everyone he’s trying to impress know he is acting.

When was the last time Republicans had anything to be proud of? Trump is not a Republican in anything but name only anyway. Same as Sanders isn’t a Democrat. Out of all of them, barring his age, Sanders would have made the best President, but that was never gonna happen. My hope with Trump is that he finally shakes us out of this ā€œHe said, She saidā€ syndrome this country is in. We are a huge mess of knee-jerkers who adopt opinions based on a party line…in lock step, anyway. Abortions, gun control, gay this and that, religious litmus tests and on and on. We need to move away from cultural issues and wedge issue and operate under a pragmatic mind set. A solution based approach that deal with tangible problems like infra structure renewal. Heal the body and the mind might follow. The fabric that holds this country together is rotting away. We let it be compromised by selfish and powerful forces that function only from greed. There is no way Trump is ever going to be elected, but if he succeeds in helping to create a viable third party that will be something. Whether Clinton can be a successful President is dependent on how independent she can be and that my friends is a frightening prospect because she is owned by these same forces that are tearing us apart. She could possibly get Congress to work together, but that’s because they all work for the same masters and it’s not the American people. The more the left and right become radicalized the easier it will be for stricter restrictions to be placed on us. Freedom and Privacy are already an illusion unless you’re affluent enough to simulate a bit more than others have. One of the first things I would do if President is work to re-institute the military draft so that everyone had some skin in the game. I’d divide the draft into military and non military domestic service and I’d start a massive infrastructure overhaul program while limiting how often we project force elsewhere. Let’s just see where that would take us.

Yes, and think about it for a moment, what had Hillary done over the last week, or even month, to further drag down her favorables? What new revelation has come out? What nasty thing has she said? Absolutely nothing, but win the nomination. I’d be willing to bet she’d be in positive territory were it not for those in her own party.

This is just my opinion, but it seems like Donald Trump is focused almost entirely on the last person to who is critical of him (Donald Trump). If Sen. Warren blasts him, he focuses entirely on Sen. Warren. If Pres. Obama is critical, even without naming Donald, Donald goes almost entirely after Pres. Obama.
While all this is going on, Hillary is out making speeches outlining her goals, where she stands. NOT attacking Donald Trump, so people are able to listen to Hillary without the stupid spouting garbage from Donald.
Seems like the Democrats realize this and are deliberately attacking Donald, but using surrogates like the President, Vice President, Sen. Warren and others. Which means the Donald ignores Hillary, and she gains traction amongst the independents and moderates.

The forces tearing us apart are people like you who are willing tho sacrifice the safety and well being of minorities (racial, religious, gender, sexual orientation, etc) for ā€œreal talkā€, for promises of economic riches. You would sacrifice is to Trump in an effort to reach your Libertarian utopia. You are the problem!

Which, from a tactical campaign managerish POV, just shows how terrible the Trump campaign has been. Remember the IG report on her email server? Typically a campaign would run with that for weeks and months, ensuring it stays at the top of the news cycle…it plays to her trustworthy issue in the polls and forces her campaign on the defense.

But what does Trump do? Buries it by lashing out a Judge hearing his fraud case…which WILL stay alive throughout the campaign because he requested it not go to trial until after the election.

So instead, she gets to make an incredibly effective case that she is the only one we can trust in the White House, and gets to go on a massive offense…while Trump voluntarily goes into a defensive crouch.

Again, I am talking about this strictly from a tactical POV, regardless of who the players are. This is not even punting on 3rd down…its punting the other way on 3rd down.

And per the CBS survey, Trump’s response to Orlando is not received favorably either.

When asked to assess the responses of the presumptive nominees for
President, Americans are divided on Hillary Clinton’s response to the
attack, while ratings of Trump are more negative. 51 percent of
Americans disapprove of the way Trump is responding to the Orlando
attack, while just 25 percent approve. Most Democrats (62 percent)
approve of Clinton’s response, while just half of Republicans (50
percent) approve of Trump’s. More independents are critical of Trump’s
response than Clinton’s.

That tells me that 3 out of seven Americans are incredibly stupid.

ā€œIt’s not too late to buy him out (maybe his strategy all along…)…,ā€

A political campaign as green mail. I think you have figured it out. The answer has been hiding in plain sight all along!

Quite so. Donald’s pretty easy to manipulate, because he’s nuts—Rubio proved that much. I thought all along the Democrats could get him dancing like a marionette, and bless them, they have. The trouble is to get Hillary’s positives out to the public. They’ll have money for advertising, so there’s that. Campaign appearances, interesting events and site visits, there are certainly ways. But Trump will be on ongoing fire in a fireworks plant, so that’s going to suck up a lot of oxygen. I’m sure she has the best media relations people available but they’ll be earning their money this summer and fall. Still, Obama cut through the noise. while Palin was doing her crazy-person sideshow, so it can be done.

One can argue it doesn’t matter what her unfavorable numbers are in isolation…it only matter in relation to her opponent’s numbers, in which case she’s golden.

I read another poll stated 55% of people would never vote for Trump. If that holds true, it’s game over for him.

Hillary has attacked – she has laid out the case that he is temperamentally unfit to be President.

Even then Trump was unable to remain focused.
