Discussion: Trump's Reason For Firing Comey? 'He Was Not Doing A Good Job'

He was not doing a good job putting HRC in jail and covering up the corruption in his administration.

Translation: He wasn’t covering my ass.

Being against this firing while still not supporting Comey is similar to disagreeing with someone yet defending their right to say it.

I suppose it takes an expert at performing poorly to recognize it in another person.

I am going to hurt something…I need to step away from the keyboard. This fking JACKHOLE is not on the Apprentice. Obama was right. He can’t make decision except in the context of Gary Busey and yes, it keeps him awake at night…‘He’s not doing a good job’??? WTF???

The problem for those pushing back is the universal agreement that Comey was not doing a good job and had badly damaged the FBI. Only last week Comey gave wildly false testimony to Congress. Plenty of press reports of panicked FBI officials trying to figure out how to walk it back.

People are prosecuted and go to prison for making wildly false statements to the FBI in criminal investigations as Mike Flynn is learning.

Not naive as to the real reason for the firing, but no one would care if there were no Russian investigation.

This is the problem for those criticizing the firing.

His staff have come forward and said that Trump wanted to fire him and demanded that sessions make the case to fire him and create the defense for the decision. According to this trump made the decision to fire Comey before Clapper and Yates testimony and after Comey said he was investigating him on March 20th.

So whats up with the certified letter trump sent to Graham last night? havent heard anything since…

Of course he thought he was doing a bad job. He asked for more resources to investigate Trump/Russia on Monday, so that confirmed he was doing a bad job so he had to be fired right away. 24 hours later, he was fired.

Agreed, but that is the crux of it. Regardless of how you feel about Comey (and I have strongly mixed feelings on that point), Trump fired the guy who was in charge of an active investigation against him, when the supposed reasons for the firing and all the criticism of Comey have existed for months. No one would have cared if Trump had fired Comey before the world knew that an active counter-intelligence investigation of the Trump campaign and his associates in ongoing.

Mothers, hold your babies close…we’re headed for a dark period in our country. I only hope that history is on our side to correct this aberration.

No telling what will come out of this man’s mouth next. He’s unstable and insane. He has no ethical or moral compass. No center, no compassion or core to his being. He is situationally inclined to react completely on impulse and most often in a fit of pique. Its going to be a long summer I suspect.

What the hell is Henry Kissinger doing there? Is Trump playing Nixon in some bizarre play-acting fantasy for Roger Stone?

WTF.

If your very existence is not about serving our so-called President, then you have no value.

We have a full blown Constitutional Crisis due to treason at the highest echelons of our government. The Constitution is hanging by a thread.

I think the Russia probe is only one reason for firing Comey. And maybe not even the most important.

If you read the case the Justice Department made against Comey it is this; he erred in not recommending prosecution of Clinton in the email case. That’s what Trump means by “not doing a good job.”

He “refused to accept the near universal judgement that he was mistaken.”

And, most important; “The Director was wrong to usurp the Attorney General’s authority on July 5, 2016, and announce his conclusion that the case should be closed without prosecution.”

Am I the only one in the world who thinks that reason – given priority in the memorandum – for cause in Comey’s firing, is also intended as cause to re-open and re-investigate the email case, under a friendlier more partisan FBI Director and Justice Department, in order to get a prosecution?

No one in the media is talking about this. But whether Trump is worried about the Russia investigation or not, he certainly is worried about the fact that he has fulfilled none of his campaign promises and most likely won’t. Is it reasonable to think he won’t try, as a distraction and as a way to keep his base enthused, to keep one of his most important promises; to “lock her up?”

And now we’ve learned that just days ago Comey asked Rosenstein for more money and personnel for the Russia investigation.

I will cop to having long admired James Comey as an extremely competent professional who I thought was perfect for the job when nominated. I’m really surprised by the last 6 months. .

Trump’s Reason For Firing Comey? ‘He Was Not Doing A Good Job’

  • and yet the same reason does not apply to the President.

I think you may be correct. Having a friendly FBI director and AG would help, and this scenario has the benefit of being able to put it in pot and place it on the stove. They can turn the heat up or down under that pot as needed for a distraction.

I just found the real reason for Comey’s firing. According to Ann Coulter it’s all a red herring to distract from the fact that the Wall has not been started.
