Sorry, Josh.

Oh the incoherence. So the moderates just need a little cover to vote for legislation that they know will fuck millions of people. I bet they get their cover. I bet they find 50 who will jump. And then, they will have Done Something, but that something will lock tens of millions more people out of the insurance market, and those people and their loved ones and their neighbors will be pissed. Moreover, this shit will increase the complexity of our already absurdly overcomplicated healthcare system exponentially and put more cost on the consumer regardless of how they’re insured (or not). If millions of people’s lives weren’t at stake, I’d be yelling “JUMP, motherfuckers!” It’s political suicide, plain and simple.

Can’t wait for one of the GOPers to slip up and call it a reach around.

This doesn’t sound complicated at all. It sounds like a plan you can whip up over the weekend with no unintentional, disasterous consequences.

This looks similar to GOP voting restrictions. The idea is to set up enough complications, obstacles and expense for poor people that they give up in despair.

The idea is being called a “wraparound” by GOP senators, and they say the goal would be to funnel the low-income people who would lose Medicaid coverage into private plans, using a combination of tax credits for private insurance, the legislation’s stabilization fund and existing Medicaid revenue streams.

First off, it cracks me up that the GOP is so out of touch that they would openly call one of their plans a “wraparound” and apparently be unaware of the image that conjures up.

But the idea of streamlining Medicaid and making it better by funneling revenue streams to private insurers instead of paying healthcare providers directly is definitely the most convoluted piece of shit idea anyone has had yet. They are going to fuck around and make healthcare work just like private prisons and charter schools, and they won’t be happy until they get there.

The idea is being called a “wraparound” “reacharound” by GOP senators, eager to please their corporatist overlords.

Spend more to roll-back Medicaid expansion than Medicaid expansion costs, and it increases the out of pocket cost to the people receiving it.

Brilliant!

How simple life would be if you could solve problems with solutions where the only question was how to pay for the solution. About 99 percent of the population would have only a vague, general idea of what a problem even was.

To assuage Ryan’s Medicaid phobia, let’s send him a keg of beer, just like the good old days.

Yes, and to privatize everything they can get their hands on along the way.

This sounds like a whole bunch of unnecessary expense and confusion. It sounds like it would cost more than what they’re doing now.

This makes exactly no sense and it sounds like something that would confuse the fuck out of the people who would be eligible for it.

I enjoy Sneed’s article headlines (and the articles as well). I don’t know if TPM has separate headline writers but I feel that her articles usually have headlines that convey what I’d imagine someone would think should be the headline once the read the article.

Tax credits? Typical GOP ploy.

No sale, cretins.

The idea sounds tidy enough in principle, . . .

Actually, it doesn’t. It sounds like a Steampunk Contraption on top of Heironymous Bosch’s rendition of the Senate bill still sitting atop the Rube Goldberg device that is our way of doing healthcare: the most convoluted, demonic, and fraught way to invent a disaster one can imagine.

Brilliant idea! Take the already convoluted, fractured, collection-of-inadequate-band-aids system for providing health insurance to low-income Americans and make it even more convoluted and fractured with a new set of more expensive and even more inadequate band-aids. So. Much. Winning.
