At this rate the only things Mueller will be able to ask Spankee about are his name, rank and serial number.
Oh, wait…
Uh, anything in this general area right in here. Anything
below the stereo and on this side of the bicentennial glasses.
Anything between the ashtrays and the thimble. Anything in this
three inches right in here in this area. That includes the
Chiclets, but not the erasers.
Well I guess we are now getting near that line where we can see IF rule of law will mean anything from this point forward. Because between the bad faith, trying to dictate terms and acting like a “king” who is above the law all that is left is for the people in charge of enforcing the law to hold the line. Or not. Congress has already shown it is not a player anymore.
(pssh - Rudy - the glasses? They don’t make you look smarter.)
Just send the subpoena already. This is just ridiculous.
Mueller is carefully not doing that. He doesn’t need the testimony, just some time to clean the report up.
I just hope they never figure out that Mueller’s way of “interviewing” Trump all along has been to find ways to induce more incriminating tweets.
“After eight months of ongoing negotiations over if, when and how federal investigators could possibly interview President Donald Trump, the President’s lawyers have again rejected special counsel Robert Mueller’s latest offer…”
I understand Trump is represented by the law firm of L. Van Pelt & Associates.
Earlier this week, Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani told the media that Trump’s legal team planned to respond to Mueller’s offer of allowing Trump to answer questions about obstruction of justice in writing rather than in-person. Giuliani indicated on Tuesday that Trump’s lawyers were “reluctant” to let Trump answer questions about obstruction.
“We’re restating what we have been saying for months: It is time for the Office of Special Counsel to conclude its inquiry without further delay.”
“Many people say that Trump’s POV is needed in the Mueller report. I disagree, I say, start going after Junior Trump, Cohen and Jared, as well as see where the Weselberg testimony goes. Though this part is an embellishment, Tokyo wasn’t won in a day.”
The interesting part of all this is that this entire charade could be in Ghouliani’s phantasmagorical imagination. We have no idea what Mueller has or hasn’t said about interviewing tRump. Just thought I’d offer that.
Mueller’s team doesn’t leak and for all we know Ghouliani has made up all of this shit out of whole cloth. Its kinda what Rudy does for anyone that’s observed him these days. Rudy has learned from the Chief Liar in Chief, so I take all of these accounts reported by Rudy without any evidence or even the slightest stitch of veracity.
Keep TwitterTwat dangling. Just to put the knife in. Just to drive up his blood pressure. Just to make him think he’s in charge.
I doubt that Gates got to pick and choose what questions the Mueller team would ask. Why is trump treated with kid gloves? Does holding that office put him above the law? I think Mueller should subpoena trump to appear and answer the goddamned question Mueller asks.
Then again if trump were a “target” of the investigation I doubt he’d be called.
There’s a report breaking on MSNBC (Michael Schmidt of the NYT) that Mueller already told Trump’s legal team earlier this year that he would issue a subpoena if Trump wouldn’t agree to testify. Not sure if that amplifies the need for Trump’s testimony or was just a pressure tactic.
You’re probably right. I’m not pretending to know what Mueller’s strategy might be, but this notion that the president can decide whether or not he’ll talk to prosecutors and what if anything they can ask him needs to be put to bed.
That’s what Trump’s real legal team wants to happen, hence sending their Rodeo Clown Rudy out in an effort to goad the SC into a SCOTUS showdown over a presidential subpoena.
If you mean the NYT’s ongoing coverage of what everyone already knows, I agree.
Much is written about the evolution of the expansion of power claimed by the Executive in our government. We start and wage wars without Congressional approval. We tax citizens without Congressional mandate. The President is becoming King. Knowing that I can easily see a showdown resulting in SCOTUS ruling that Trump is in fact above the law. Not wanting your name on the losing side of that “vs” in perpetuity is understandable.
If he sends a subpoena, it gets into a whole big McGliiah that takes months and ends up at the Supreme Court. That is what Spanky’s side wants. Better to let him come voluntarily, or not. I’m guessing too, but I’ll stand by it.
@marby
I get the feeling the Mueller team is letting trump stew.
Sometimes I feel trump is dead meat and other times Mueller will issue a wishy washy report that lets trump off the hook.
