They are not trying to fight anything. They want RATINGS, and it’s working quite nicely. In fact, “fights”=Ratings. They love this stuff, and people eat it up, even liberals are tuning in just so they can yell at the TV.

It’s simply amazing how Donald Trump has basically boxed out everyone who was anyone in the Republican party four short years ago. Who’s Sheldon Adelson? Where are the Kochs? How about Reince Preibus and the RNC? Where’s Mitt?
It’s just Donald Trump. He’s basically shut everybody else up. Luntz may be many things but he’s not stupid. He’s going to get right by the Donald if he wants to survive this election cycle.
I’ve got to say, this magic Trump is weaving is breathtaking. Not Presidential material in my view, but deeply impressed in what he’s done to the Repubs in such a short time.

Yes, but no: Ailes is definitely a hard-core conservative aligned with hard-core oligarchic business interests. Those interests want Walker, Jeb!, or possibly Kasich. Oligarchs can’t control Trump and Trump can’t win in the general–against Hillary OR Bernie. Ailes/Fox desire to take Trump down is real–they just don’t know how to do it.
