Morons in Kentucky⌠who knew?
read down to poor olâ Lisa Bonerâs story⌠think sheâll ever figure out the irony?
This isnât to defend Prince, but isnât this the sort of thing you could say about virtually every R politician? I mean, did you expect him to nominate an ACA loving Democrat?
The only thing resembling a âDisastrous Government Takeoverâ are the anti trust protections the insurance industry continues to operate underâŚand of which the GOP wants to retainâŚ
I donât think that most GOPers in DC really believe that the ACA is a government âtakeover.â The only reason most of them hate it is because it keeps insurance companies from making quite as much profit as before, and probably depresses stock prices a bit. Thatâs the only reason they are against the ACA - lack of profits.
Only a Republican would consider a law that required every citizen to buy insurance from a private sector insurer to be a âgovernment takeover.â
What would this clown call a plan that eliminated private sector insurance altogether and replaced it with Medicare for all?
Apparently, âgovernment takeoverâ would not be the term, as that one has already been taken.
Since Obamacare, I havenât seen any news articles in the local rag highlighting yet another fundraiser for someone who was uninsured when disaster struck. There used to be quite a few. Iâm sure weâll be getting back to funding emergency room visits and surgeries with bake sales and raffles.
So putting private insurance in charge of more healthcare is a âgovernment takeover.â I donât think he knows what that phrase meansâŚ
i donât want no fucking vouchers. leave my medicare alone.
Elections matter
thatâs very funny and scary at the same time. more people hanging out in front of walmart? i love the âpatient centered solutionsâ meme. it says zip about how anything would actually work.
âPatient centeredâ is a euphemism for the patient paying more
As a patient, Iâm continually reminded that I am central to the funding of our recently overbuilt regional hospital and the state-of-the-art physicianâs offices with their latest in diagnostic equipment. And itâs all coordinated, promoted, and enforced by the local (used to be) non-profit insurer.
The irony is that the signs we mocked a few years ago, âKeep your government hands off my Medicare,â might now be valid.
Why people think someone with MD after their name has an inkling as to what healthcare policy should be is laughable and sad at the same time. I can think of no one less qualified to make rational decisions about healthcare policy than this 3rd generation doctor from a privileged family who has never had to worry about healthcare in his entire life and knows absolutely no one who ever has either.
I worked with doctors closely for almost my entire career and orthopedic surgeons were some of the worst. I used to have to beg them to take ER call at our hospital - they never wanted to deal with anything that they could not schedule to their convenience and get paid full price for. The hospital finally had to pass bylaws stating if you were on staff you had to take ER call on a rotating basis, and even then these guys would weasel out of it any which way they could.
That is your free market at work. One of these days people will wise up and understand that being a doctor does not qualify you for any other job and that especially includes politics and healthcare policy.
P.S. How much money do you think this guy made off of Medicare while he was a practicing orthopedic surgeon?
He probably opted out rather than accept the reimbursement rates.
