Read those as Domestic Policy, Economic Policy, and Foreign Policy—just said with 50-cent words when 10-cent words were sufficient.
So all the people who are loudly against increasing the national debt will be voting against Trump, right.
… nevermind
The scepter budget alone could break the bank.
We shall see. It sounds more like open request night to me, or fill-in-the-blanks with whatever goofy thing the two candidates can dredge up.
Why Holt couldn’t have just arguably devised what you just laid out as in years past, is a mystery to me.
FIFY
No problem, it’s just Other People’s Money.
Don’t forget that his original national debt reduction plan was to negotiate a haircut on the principle with the creditors…
It is the only thing he knows how to do, and lord knows, he’s got practice writing off debt and leaving someone holding the bag…
I’m torn because no critique of the Rump can be truly unwelcome, but these deficit hawks have their economics backwards. The deficit should be larger.
The better critique of Rump is that he would enlarge the deficit counterproductively, by giving tax cuts to people who need it the least, while building a stupid wall, and starting wars.
voodoo economics rises again
Trump has to sit down with Paul Ryan and learn about the power of magic asterisks.
And the football signed by Tebow. Fabulous pigskin!
I’m going to have to agree with @thunderclapnewman here. The topics are being kept purposefully vague so that even if he could, trumpet won’t be able to study them or be briefed or read one word from any source. Clinton on the other hand knows it all without the specifics. Waldman at WaPo does a good job examining what we think the expectations are and to disregard what Big Media says in the aftermath with their instant analysis.
Trumps trickle down economic plan is, in a nutshell, the way to feed the birds is to give the horses more hay. It never works.
All these things would be covered under Trump’s new America Foundation, which uses “OPM” as defined by Trump.
Completely legal and tax deductible. Plus the costs will be lower if he hires women and the minorities.
It’ mind boggling that anyone is projecting a cumulative increase of the deficit of only $200bn over 10 years. There is no CBO or OMB projection of the FY 17 and 18 combined which is less than $800bn and that’s just of course only 2 years.
Setting aside any numbers it is a functional impossibility that the deficit will ever fall to near zero. It is also an existential impossibility meaning zero deficits would cause a dislocation of the financial markets and
a failure of governance, not to mention a deflationary debt driven economic depression.
Every single political arrow, save the silly deficit hawks, is demanding larger deficits in order to drive demand in the economy to prevent deflation.
After 2 campaign manager and campaign CEO (because Trump apparently be his own CEO) changes and 3 months of re-working, researching and updating the costs of Trump’s plans, they will couldn’t get it below current levels and are still 20% higher than Clinton’s. Trump can’t even manage to make a proposal that is better than Clinton’s, he certainly won’t be able to manage reality when there are even more factors in play. Weak.
Sorry, can’t access it. Used up my quota of free articles already this month.
I don’t know that I care to hear what any TV pundit thinks of the debates however. Print media I’ll read, but that’s as far as I go this time around. I really want this campaign over. Its ugly, unnerving and undeniably fascistic. I’m tired of keeping up with the tRump antics day to day. The media refuses with any sustained effort to focus on what a fucking criminal he’d be in the WH should he get elected and treating this election as if both candidates are sane or on par with one another. They also pretend Clinton doesn’t have policies she’s been talking about for a year now because they only want to talk about one or two negative things over and over again about her. I don’t recognize my country anymore and the arbiters of truth, justice and the American way on cable TV have primarily done nothing but make excuses for what most of the older generation of Americans still receive as their portion of daily bullshit from about 2-3 dozen of these idiot bloviators they rotate to offer their own political biases.
This is not a normal campaign or election no matter how hard they try to make it seem as if this is in the tradition of Presidential campaigns from yesteryear. Its scary and with a little over a month to go, I just pray we’re not in for some rude awakening come Nov. 9th…
Having a bad couple of days. Will probably lay off the news for awhile too. Not feeling so hot.
I laid off for two weeks, no TV or internet (not even the weather channel (temptation). The ‘pull’ was strong but after day three it lessened. Really did wonders for me. But you’re right, this election is ugly, very disruptive and considering the consequences and the behavior of the media, disturbing.
Exactly! My guess is that these guys didn’t get the memo, and even as we speak they are saying “Crap! I forgot that Republican deficits are good. We never minded them when it was W running them up.”
Trump won’t be paying for it.
Trump spends. The middle class pays. Conservatives tell them the debt is out of control. They vote for Republicans.
Nice scam.
