Literally starving grannies.

In addition to the cuts at the E.P.A. and the State Department, Mr. Trumpā€™s team is expected to propose a wide array of cuts to public education, to transportation programs like Amtrak and to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, including the complete elimination of the $3 billion Community Development Block Grant program, which funds popular programs like Meals on Wheels, housing assistance and other community assistance efforts.

This administration really knows how to do ā€˜opticsā€™.

They are trying to get all the unpleasant stuff done early, hoping it will be forgotten for the next election. Oldest trick in the book.

Yup. Bullies. Who have no understanding of how the world works. He thinks intimidation will work here because he is used to using intimidation on the weaker and poorer (such as small business owners and contractors).

Anyone wanna bet that heā€™s slashing State because of Hillary? Would fit his vindictive pattern: kill ACA because itā€™s called ā€œObamacareā€ and accuse Obama of ā€œwire tappingā€, because he hates and is jealous of Obama.

God, I hate this jerk.

And just how much was the aid cut to Israel ? Can someone give BiBI the number?

As if things arenā€™t strange enough, itā€™s going to be truly amazing when the nation demands that the budget not be passed ā€” there we be cuts that effect every single American in one way or another ā€” and that the government be shut down until itā€™s fixed.

May you live in interesting times indeed.

These are the true believers in the maxim ā€œWe had to destroy the world in order to save it.ā€

If nothing else, this will (hopefully) help people finally realize how these people really are.

Donā€™t worry - charitable gifts from the venerable Trump Foundation will make up the difference for any cuts to social programs.

> The soft power programs on the chopping block include everything from the $30 billion spent annually on foreign aid to various global health initiatives to the thousands of Americans volunteering overseas in the Peace Corps.

ā€œIn dollar amount terms, the U.S. give more than any other country, spending more than $31 billionā€”though that accounts for a comparatively low 0.19 percent of GDP. (By contrast, Americans believe that as much as 28 percent of U.S. budget goes to foreign aid, which would be something.)ā€

ā€˜As of July 2014, Oil Change International estimates United States fossil fuel subsidies at $37.5 billion annually, including $21 billion in production and exploration subsidies.ā€™

"A 2016 study estimated that global fossil fuel subsidies were $5.3 trillion in 2015, which represents 6.5% of global GDP.[3] The study found that ā€œChina was the biggest subsidizer in 2013 ($1.8 trillion), followed by the United States ($0.6 trillion), and Russia, the European Union, and India (each with about $0.3 trillion).ā€

Gee, where else might we be able to cut back? Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Agriculture ?.. Nah! - cut ā€œwelfareā€ programs insteadā€¦ like Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Agriculture.

saw a comment on WaPoā€™s article about this that seems spot on.

the commenter said this budget would vastly increase the flow of new foot soldiers to fight the GOPā€™s wars. Less education, less money, fewer prospects = only real job prospect is to enlist.

Thatā€™s why so many enlist now. This budget would increase that stock of expendables exponentially.

Itā€™s sick, but it fits.

Okay, now Iā€™m convinced 45 is taking lessons from North Koreaā€™s Kim in projecting strength ā€” starve the people? Check?

Countdown to executions of military leaders that disagree with him in 10, 9 ā€¦

Plus make people poor enough that theyā€™ll take the dishwashing and seasonal farm work that will be available from the mass deportations. And probably at a fraction of the cost of immigrants

yup.

I donā€™t know where they dredged up this Mick but Iā€™ll say thisā€¦heā€™s a fucking bean counter, not someone concerned about real programs that help real people or the environment. Heā€™s nothing but a yes-man to a sick, moronic and insane Dictatorā€¦and thatā€™s dangerous.

From the article:

Amid talk of colossal budget and staffing cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Trump administration might slash their funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative by around 97 percent by 2018, from $300 million a year to about $10 million, according to reports by the Detroit Free Press and the Oregonian.

This initiative plays a huge role in protecting the ecosystems of these beautiful and important natural icons. Not only do they hold 84 percent of North Americaā€™s surface fresh water supply and about 21 percent of the worldā€™s supply of surface fresh water, they directly provide 1.5 million jobs and $62 billion worth of wages to people living in the eight nearby US states and the Canadian province of Ontario.

As it stands, the Great Lakes already face a handful of threats, such as chemical stress from pollution, invasive species, and physical stress from climate change. The initiativeā€™s ā€œfocus areasā€ of work includes cleaning up and managing polluted areas, combating invasive species, reducing harmful algal blooms, and restoring wildlife habitats of the lakes.

Reducing the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative by 97% from $300 million to $10 million! This idiot may think thatā€™s penny wiseā€¦but its clearly pound foolish, and insanely irresponsible.

No! No! No! Democrats in Congress, fight this fucker every single step of the way. These steep cuts are out of line with our values. What the hell is the issue with providing fresh, hot meals to all our children in every public school? ā€“ I believe every kid should be offered meals at every public school, rich or poor. Seriously, why is that such a horrible thing? Offering rental assistance to the poorest of the poor ā€“ and our homeless veterans?? Gee, what a waste of money ā€“ amirite, Republicans? Make those veterans ā€œwork for their living!ā€ Same goes for those terrible disabled persons ā€“ make them sweep the streets and lick the brass doors to the banks to earn their keep! Fuck the environment! Dump whatever you want into our waterways and wherever you wish on the land. It affects others? Oh, too bad. Especially dump that mountain top coal slag into the hollows and creeks ā€“ make those poor Appalachia white trash people suffer even more!

Having lived in a developing country for a short time, I can tell you that there is enormous positive feelings generated from very little aid. China is eating the worldā€™s lunch in this regard. Theyā€™ve been steadily giving to and building infrastructure around the world. Hard power is nearly meaningless. Moral authority is everything.
