Regime change in Iraq, which was about as weak a target as we could find at the time, was horrible and awful and left both the US AND the ME in worse shape than it was before. Regime change in Iran would be impossible- even without them having nuclear weapons.

This is the worst, stupidest and most dangerous action Trump took so far in his presidency, and there are plenty to choose from! All I can hope is that somehow the European powers fix it, but I am not very optimistic. Shit!

I gotta say, Iām enjoying reading all of the comments here much more than I enjoyed listening to that asshole speak. He could have just said āWeāre out,ā signed his document, showed it off for the cameras and left.
But all the talk about āthe regimeā and all it has done - over many years, not so much recently - is just a prelude to the war to bring about regime change.
Whatās the death of a few hundred thousand people, including thousands of Americans, compared to Trump destroying something else good that Obama did?

Are you not hearing the massive applause coming from his supporters? From the military? Theyāre thrilled with this. He said he would un-do it and he now, officially, has. Until we get the same kind of intensity from the anti-Trumpers, instead of hand-wringing and whinging like overly-permissive parents, this is all heās going to hear.
With the polls that published this morning at 40% support for his administration (yes, I know there are other less favorable ones, but you donāt think heās ever heard about those, do you?), heās doing exactly what he wants to do and the hell with the rest of us.

I imagine the Europeans will stay with the agreement and Iran will simply go around the American sanctions and trade with the EU. Driving wedges between the US and our traditional allies has been a Russian goal since the Soviet days. Seems to be working thanks to tRump.
One thing for sure is that the Europeans wonāt join us in a war against the Iranians. I think they had enough fun in Iraq.

I agree with you. By all accounts, Iran has about five times the military resources than Iraq had before the 2003 Bush invasion there. Iran also has state-of-the-art and sophisticated surface-to-air missile defenses recently procured from Putinās Russia. Iran also possesses all-weather supersonic jet aircraft.
