Iâm not a sports fan. Iâve never watched a Superbowl or NBA playoffs or whatever⌠except for some bike racing. But teams in the NFL, NBA etc. arenât nationally sponsored athletic teams. They are privately owned (even if cities give a lot of money and/or tax breaks for giant stadiums. So why all the fuss about having the national anthem? I mean, why do we even play the national anthem at entertainment events? I can understand it for the Olympic or other international competitions where athletes are representing their countries. Itâs so entrenched now (like the words âone nation under godâ in the pledge of allegiance) that fans would erupt in shock and outrage if some rogue team decided that the solution is to stop having the anthem before the game. Still, that would give Trump one less thing to get all hot and bothered about in the morning.

It does seem as if Trump is becoming much more unhinged lately. As Madow pointed out last night, thereâs a sense that something big is getting ready to happen that weâve not yet heard about.
That said, discovering that most of Cohenâs documents are going to the prosecutors on the same day that Muellerâs folks are asking a judge to put Manafort back in the slammer for attempted witness tampering could be enough of a shock to set Trump off.
And, heâs really foolish to screw with Eagles fans.

Donât let Trump fool you. It was never about knees no Eagle ever took. It turned out only a few players wanted to come. Heâs just avoiding a humiliation and pretending itâs about something else.
WH official tells me -- last Thurs, the Eagles submitted 70+ names to attend. On Fri, Eagles tried to resked event for days when POTUS was gonna be in Singapore. On Mon, they said the group avail on pre-planned date wld be TWO or THREE players + owner + MASCOT.

Had Whig leanings but he mostly just wanted to get on with his gambling and whoring. And meanwhile, His Majestyâs government carried on even as the poor old fellow raved around the palace.

About Trumpâs NFL comments; The issue I see is what is more important, Black lives or White comfort? That is the most contact most White NFL fans have with Blacks is watching them play football on TV.
As for the Donald, this is Trump playing to his âvalues voterâ base which is just another way of saying that âValuesâ in front of the word voter is and has always been code for Race.
That is this whole issue is in the one sense âHUGEâ, American citizens getting gunned down by police for the color of their skin, and in another sense really petty, knelling as opposed to standing for the national anthem. Heck if anyone is watching the anthem on TV they are sitting. Furthermore what is being done during the national anthem does not affect the quality of the game. Rather, for Trump voters all it does is give them another opportunity to attack Blacks as being less equal whereas for the Black players it is their fathers fight.
For Trump, it is about dividing America and exploiting that division.
