Someone please post the “this is fine” meme. I’m too paralyzed by fear to search.
Missiles fired into a Soviet bastion. Don’t see any downside here.
Duck and cover for a new generation.
And right now one of the nerviest, steadiest, smartest people in the country, a person who’d make a pretty good war President and a pretty good peace one too, is walking her dogs in the woods east of the Hudson.
To which Vlad should reply:
“American people should not be partners with unhinged narcissist that boasts of committing sexual assault and doing it with impunity!!”
It’s Defcon One in his head today. I hope someone remembered to deflate the nuclear football.
Ooooh. Threat.
Followed by … action?
No. Followed by “Can’t we all just get along?”
Trump playing missile chess with Putin. That’s a comforting thought.
There may be some people within government that are at least beginning to entertain the idea our laws and procedures for dealing with a President of Trump’s caliber and disposition are woefully inadequate, if not entirely lacking, in offering sufficient recourse for removal from office. Especially in dire circumstances with millions of lives on the line and a swift change of course is urgently called for, by near consensus of just about everyone in the military/legislative sphere.
What is possibly being pondered in some corners is called “extrajudicial”.
founding fathers did not envision complicit Congress. They’re supposed to be co-equals, not enablers. The checks and balances aren’t balanced right now.
Possible, maybe, but most are captured by the party, their individual needs, as well as their idiocy.
Stop the arms race?

“When Putin raised the possibility of extending the 2010 treaty, known as New START, Trump paused to ask his aides in an aside what the treaty was,” the Reuters reporters, Jonathan Landay and David Rohde, write. “Trump then told Putin the treaty was one of several bad deals negotiated by the Obama administration, saying that New START favored Russia. Trump also talked about his own popularity.”
and that led to…
I’ll bet the girls and boys over at the Pentagon would have preferred that you hadn’t told it, Donald.
Yet another cringeworthy, awkward, embarrassing statement. The sun came up again too.
"… likely launching from France as the French president doesn’t need parliamentary approval to launch a military strike."
WTF is Macron playing at here?
Bolton isn’t wasting any time. Gotta get that war on!
I think any crew that would take such steps are steeped in hyper-patriotism, their motives mostly beyond and independent of party loyalty and affiliation. I doubt when Navy Seals or Green Berets are executing a mission any of them pause and ponder “Is this what a Republican would want me to do? Am I being true to my party registration down at the polling precinct?”
and wait until you see the goods we have on him …
Useful Idiot
Trump criticized Obama in the past for publishing a withdrawal date, claiming that it is not acceptable to relinquish the element of surprise. I read this tweet this morning and thought to myself, “so this is what it feels like when my head explodes.” I thought I had gotten used to the fact that Trump contradicts himself at light speed, but this tweet raised the bar even for me.

The Trump administration is considering citing the deaths of scores of Russian mercenaries in a Feb. 7 battle with U.S.-backed forces in Syria as evidence of the president’s tough stance toward the Kremlin, a person familiar with the matter said.
Trump himself would like to publicly make the case that the battle shows his resolve to confront Moscow, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity. He faces greater pressure to act after the indictment of 13 Russians and a St. Petersburg “troll farm” on Feb. 16 for allegedly leading a coordinated effort to influence the 2016 election. In a weekend tweet storm, Trump claimed the indictment exonerated him, but never criticized Russia.
and it’s kind of tough when they’re all on the Russian payroll
I doubt Macron knows anything about it
