Discussion: Trump Wants Flood As New WH Counsel While Allies Favor A More Partisan Candidate

I doubt Flood is that stupid, ETTD !

Flood to Trump: Meet me in Wilmington, North Carolina Friday morning at 10 a.m. Ask for Florence.

…John Kelly is urging Trump to be deliberative and circumspect…

He’s also hoping to get a unicorn for Xmas. And a flying carpet.

…some allies fear that Flood’s bipartisan background will make him insufficiently unconditionally loyal to the President…

OMFG, they still don’t understand what the role of the White House Counsel is.

Could tRump be making the right choice?

Nah, no chance of that.

I saw what you did there. (By the way, Flo has slowed down and last I heard they were talking late Friday/Saturday landfall.)

Well, Trump’s a pretty heavy load, so we should make sure that he’s pre-positioned.

Trump’s support is tanking?

I have to say this, it is hard to imagine two things about Trump supporters who are just now jumping off that ship of rats.

First, why did it take them so long… who are they and what kept them so stubbornly supportive of Trump’s insanity in the first place, and second, how on Earth can there still be sane people supporting him?

I don’t mean to be mean, but I’ve seen the way the Trump lovers act before, particularly the ones still remaining after the avalanche of damning information that came out recently in the anonymous editorial and Woodward’s book.

This reminds me of watching mesmerized cult members in the early 70’s fawn over money-hungry gurus and fad religions, it is all like something out of the Emperor’s New Clothes.

When their “idol’s” nakedness is exposed by irrefutable evidence, they instinctively throw up this wall of automatic self-determination, based on sheer falsehood, that rises in them whenever reality challenges their hypnotized loyalties.

It starts as a stubborn, defensive hostility, followed by a blank stare then a receding into clouded introspection as they cobble together a clumsy mental defense based on cliches they have turned into their crude 'truth." They got those cliches from FOX News and right wing media, Alex Jones and Sean Hannity, and from each other in an echo chamber of self-inflicted culthood.

The Cult of Trump is giving us all a window into the pernicious way brainwashing works on people around us. It is fascinating, but heartbreaking for some of us who have seen our loved-ones descend into this perpetual falsehood.

Some of them will never get over it, they will carry that mesmerized stare and hostile hatred for anyone who knew better to their graves. But hopefully, many more of them will awaken to the stark reality that now overwhelms anyone with a clear mind.

This sounds like WH sources gaslighting the press. We’re really meant to believe that Trump wants McGahn’s first choice for counsel, not someone more “loyal” like Giuliani? They’re either trying to use this to trick Trump into making a sane choice, or they want to make people think Trump is more rational than Woodward makes him sound before the midterms.

Me? I’m okay with a Flood hitting the Oval Trailer.

Trump is always complaining (supposedly) that he can’t get ‘good lawyers’ like Kushner or others do. I also wouldn’t put much stock in Flood’s ‘democratic’ leanings. It’s not like Clinton was (or even is now) a flaming progressive. Flood’s politics could very well line up with folks like Dan Coats or John Dowd.

What interests me is what kinds of conflict issues come up when transferring from his current role (private counsel on the Mueller probe, I believe) to White House Counsel, where there is no attorney/client privilege between the men.

(I also loved hearing on Maddow last night that Trump was surprised to find out from Dowd that he didn’t enjoy privilege in his discussions with Ty Cobb. Unreal.)

General John Kelly, the once and future racist asshole.
Of course, Trump and Kelly can’t get their dream pick, Roy Cohn, because he’s, like, dead.

And I love how they’re talking about “impeachment” if the Dems take the House. They’re not scared of impeachment, which the Dems will never do unless they have the House and 67+ Dem Senators. What Trump and his coterie of traitors are really afraid of are extensive investigations of his corruption.

Besides, impeachment in the House without a conviction in the Senate is like sex without climax: you and your partner can contort yourself into every position shown in the Kama Sutra, but if you don’t achieve orgasm, it’s really just an exercise in futility.

I wish someone would convince Trump to go with Mattlock or Perry Mason.

Leaving aside all qualities any of the candidates for Counsel possess, isn’t each aspirant ethically, morally and professionally suspect for expressing any willingness to do the job and work for Trump?

GOP has concerns that Flood may have, at sometime in the past, been exposed to the “integrity virus” … it may be dormant - but they fear that it could become active at an inopportune juncture.

Trump has a built up immunity to integrity viruses. If one enters his body it’s smothered and killed in a matter of seconds.
