The scenario that worries me the most is a San Bernardino scale (or worse) terrorist attack on U.S. soil a few weeks before the election. And Trump riding the wave of fear and hatred right into the Oval Office.
The scary part is, if that’s something that is desired by ISIL or Al Qaeda or whoever, it’s something they could very plausibly pull off. And why shouldn’t they want Trump? Surely, like everyone else, they must realize that the election of Donald Trump as President would be a huge embarrassment for the United States, making us the laughingstock of the world (and rightly so).
I wonder how much thought our security officials have given to this scenario – terrorists timing attacks to influence elections.

WTF is closing the borders going to do if the people who would do something like this are already here? How do you even close the borders of the US? Stop all international flights? Road blocks at every crossing? Close all sea ports? How does that even help?

I chose the Today show to cover the Belgium attack specifically because CBS’ Les Moonves made the comment that Donald Trump was bad for America but good for CBS.
But just now, Matt Lauer explained that the show would be featuring this ignorant thuggish bigot Trump to weigh in on the attacks, as if that goon had one iota of intelligent commentary to offer. Why not ask David Duke what he thinks while you’re at it? Was Sarah Palin unavailable? Joe the Plumber?
So thanks Andy Lack, thanks for not only royally screwing up MSNBC, but for perpetuating the illusion that Trump is anything but a bone-deep nitwit with mob ties who’s favored by the poorly educated he so adores.

It’s an effective message for the sheeple - hey, we’ve already tortured - and killed - people who turned out to be innocent. We know there were children abused in Abu Ghraib and we’ve been allowed to see only the tip of the evidentiary iceberg. Some of the people illegally detained and subjected to “enhanced” interrogation techniques were - to coin a technical term - entirely innocent. The American people simply do not care.
These attacks play right into Trump’s tiny hands, giving him a fresh opportunity to express his unqualified enthusiasm for torture, for closing borders, for excluding refugees and Muslims from the U.S., etc.
His performance in this “interview” was a chilling tour de force of authoritarian, nationalistic, white-fright propaganda. The barbarians are at the gate, and we’re “weak,” but the DrumpfenFuhrer will make us “strong.”
