We should always remember the neocons for FUBAR-ing the Middle East. Iran and Iraq were engaged in a war that was keeping them both contained. The neocons convinced Dubya that we could “take out” Saddam and the Iraqi people would love us for the liberation. Hell, “their oil will even pay for our incursion,” we were told. With Saddam removed and Iraq a basket case of a country, Iran no longer had a threat along its western border. Hence, they became an emboldened disruptor in the Middle East.
I will be glad when the oil runs out over there. They will be left with nothing to offer the West and will soon be dumped upon the trash heap of the world. Maybe, too, our government will quit lying to us about our true intentions in the Middle East.
