Discussion: Trump Urges Senate GOP To Ditch Filibuster After ACA Repeal Failure

It’s amazing how little people think about most things. They trundle along on autopilot. “They’re all crooks!” “We have to get someone new in there.” “How much worse could it be?” And so forth. If you walked around discussing politics with random people last fall about three out of four would have talked like that. And Trump’s a billionaire, he built a huge business, he must have something on the ball. Even now I’d say the average person is only becoming dimly aware he’s problematic.

It’s not just politics. Personal finance " All banks are the same–and are just like the Credit Unions.! All healthcare insurance companies–I don’t need to compare. All mutual funds–6% to get in? They must do something to deserve it."
And the biggest chumps: “2 and 20? All the smart money is in hedge funds”

Jim Newell at Slate captured that idea pretty well months ago. He said supporting Trump was the primal scream of anyone who was ever quietly told by Human Resources to stop calling his female coworkers “Sweetheart.”

Certainly appears he’s lost Russia as Putin has lost patience with Trump. Interesting to see what happens here as Trump is now besieged from all sides.

What a beleaguered Presidency!

Bingo. I’d say tat the GOP has now moved past the point of no return for this misery and that Rump no longer useful to them. Quite the contrary.

By firing Rinse My Prius, he now has no connection to the GOP. Or to the Dems. or to anyone outside of the WH. No one.

I said yesterday that in some ways, Rump serves at the pleasure of the GOP. Don’t think they’re too pleased at this moment and, as with all his wives, are planning on getting out of this horrid situation.

I might replace beleaguered with FUBAR.

Actually the best example I ever saw of regular-person lack of thinking was a colleague in the lunchroom saying that with a mild recession driving her retirement fund down, she needed to stop contributing. Absolutely backwards on how dollar-cost averaging works. Fundamental concept in retirement planning. No clue. And this was not a literally stupid person. But clueless on a matter of great importance to her own life. Very common thing. Shaking my head.

Methinks Sir Bannon has a lot to do with this.

I think the Russians have current stuff with Trump and “consorts:” If they put that out we’ll finally be seeing his approval in the 20s–a prediction I had given up for lost.

And so do pigs and swine.

Rats and mice will have their choice,
And so will I have mine.

It’s been clear for some time that DT’s life experience of being first a rich princeling and then a king in his family business–a boss whose word could not be questioned because of family structure–brought him to this point. He does not understand our system of government. He thinks he was elected to be king. Now that other people expect him to behave like a president, which is a very difficult balancing act, he is simply enraged that what he thought would be his role is not his role at all. He must feel like he is the victim of a bait and switch.

I suspect that people like this one support Trump mostly because they identify with him, not realizing that the reason they feel so despised is because they despise themselves.

That won’t change no matter what Trump or anyone else does.

It will only change when and if they take another look at why they feel that way and realize that they have full and relatively easy control over whether they despise themselves.

Salvation is in their own hands, not Trump’s.

I’m not sure that the base would care that much.
