Discussion: Trump Tweets Call To Cancel New Air Force One, Says Boeing's Costs Are 'Out Of Control'

Trump apparently believes he is president now ?

The cost of these new planes may well be out of control but I doubt it’s Boeing’s fault. More likely it is the extreme levels of customization the DoD is demanding be made to the planes with their blue-sky procurement practices that don’t set reasonable limits . Something Trump knows nothing about of course.

We see the same thing happening now with POTUS limos which have become increasingly exotic and ‘extreme’. How long before the Secret Service demands that next set of limos be capable of flight?

He’s gonna’ need some of that money…

He is going to be a ‘hands on’ president …‘tiny little hands on’ president

Actually, Trump is lying again.

Boeing Co on Tuesday responded to a call by President-elect Donald Trump about the costs of a new Air Force One, saying that it currently had only a $170 million contract to determine the capabilities of the new presidential aircraft…
Trump on Tuesday said costs for the new plane were expected to reach $4 billion and urged the government to cancel a contract with Boeing for the jet.
The budgeted costs for the Air Force One replacement program are $2.87 billion for the fiscal years 2015 through 2021, according to budget documents. But the production contract has not yet been awarded to Boeing.

And ABC as well as other MSM outlets ran with the 4 Billion uncritically.

Edit. And Boeing cut a 38 Billion dollar deal to sell aircraft to the PR of China last year.

OTOH Boeing will know how to fend for themselves…

His interest in this is easy to explain. It’s something he knows about. As an owner of a private jet, this is something that is in his field of vision. And since it’s not his, it has to be inferior to one that is.

‘why can’t we get this one’ he sniveled

That caused involuntary coffee spitting, followed by a long coughing jag. Thanks!

Josh Marsall (in a post which doesn’t allow comments) is speculating that this might be Trump’s revenge for a report in the Chicago Tribune that Boeing officials were a little concerned about Trump’s riffs (their word) on foreign policy, especially as it relates to China. Could be . . . . .

This is the kind of guy who would blow $10 in order to make a show of savin’ a dime.

Maybe. But I don’t think Trump is that clever.

me either - just sharing that speculation.
