Apparently Trump can afford to self fund, but it also spares him the embarrassment of not having to face that others can raise more money than he can. I think that is the real reason he is self funded. His base is not well heeled and he is such an unpredictable prima dona, it is doubtful that corporate America and other rich donors want to bet on him. He will likely win New Hampshire as he is way ahead and then he will claim there was never even a caucus in Iowa.
