Discussion for article #240065
Donât do it Donald! The Donald will never be caged! The Donald will never be barred. The Donald will never be tied down (unless he pays for it). The DONALD is YUUUGGGGGEEE!!!
I canât imagine what they would have to offer him to get him to take such a pledge. Why would he do it if it would, effectively, take away all of the leverage he currently enjoys? Do the Republicans really believe they can just pay Trump to surrender? What would his fan club think if he agreed?
Iâm sure Trump will incorporate a few strike throughs and asterisks before signing. A business man as astute as The Donald would never sign an unabridged contract on someone elseâs âpaperâ.
Then what is his point? If he gives up the only weapon he has how is he going to fight? Without the 3rd party shit there is no reason for the GOP not to ax this asshole. He had therm on eggshells because they feared a 3rd party run that would ensure a whopping defeat for the GOP candidate.
There is more to this then whats above. Trump would not expose himself this way.
Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told Politico in a phone
interview, âI donât think you can âexpectâ ANYTHING from Mr. Trump.â
I am quite sure I can âexpectâ Trump to make a shitty President if elected.
Is this a binding contract? Would it even be legal? Unless itâs a binding contract, the GOP canât hold him to it. They can whine their butts off if he breaks it, but then again, Trump is Trump and will do what he wants.
Another misleading headline.
âHowever Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told Politico in a phone interview, âI donât think you can âexpectâ ANYTHING from Mr. Trump.ââ
Trumpâs whole shtick is poking a stick in the eye of the GOP. Why would he sign that? What would he gain? Signing would make him look weak and blunt his attacks on the establishment.
Only reason I could see him doing it is so he could rip it up when he announces his third party bid. That would fire up his supporters.
Trump has been playing the GOP and their base ever since he decided to run. I donât imagine this bit of theater is any different. We shall see.
Is he or isnât he? Only his hairdresser knows for sure.
Will he speak in Mexican?
Wow, how hedged can an article get? Pure click bait. Shame on me.
Scenario #1: Trump signs the pledge, continues in the debates, and becomes the nominee.
Scenario #2: Trump signs the pledge, loses the nomination, and then declares that he must run as a third party candidate, because his âsupporters insist that he run, for the good of Americaâ and he canât refuse a request from his supporters, nor, presumably, can he ignore whatâs good for America.
If the Republicans want Trump to be a non-factor, theyâre going to have to do something that they havenât done since the 1950s - put a candidate on the ballot who has a compelling platform that actually proposes to improve the life of the average American.
Good luck with that one.
Thereâs nothing legally binding about that pledge.
Military planners are trained to expect surprises, to try to avoid surprises, to plan in the EVENT of surprises and to game-out some âworse-caseâ scenarios. Prudent national leaders also do the same. This was why Churchill kept 25 squadrons of fighters at Britainâs disposal when the French were crying out for them in 1940.
Although I would love for Trump to be âplayingâ Rinse Prius and the ReThuggs, the concentrated evil and power these people possess are formidableâŚand no man is âsupermanâ when stacked up against what the suicidal villain in the film âShooterâ called.
A CONGLOMERATE
Other posters here are probably right. Trump may have an ace up his sleeve and wriggle out of whatever he wants. From what I have seen, one of Trumpâs advantages is one that Americans preoccupied with the âschism between (common ordinary people) whites and (common ordinary people) blacksâ have never really fathomed:
That the Rich ARE different
You read my mind. Heâll tell his supporters that the GOP nom is a total loser and that this election is too important to NOT have him in it. In any case, expect him to do whatever hell it is that Rump wants to do.
PLEDGELINGSâŚLOL
Lack of trust and confidence in their brand. And if a PLEDGELING wanders from their GAGGLE, what pray tell is their punishment??? Will the RNC defund the PLEDGELINGS? Will the guilty PLEDGELING be forced to drink poisoned kool-ade from the GOPâs punchbowl. Cult mentality, SHADES OF JIM JONES.
What a bunch of Right-wing-nutz , emphasis on âNUTZâ. Fear-mongering and intimidation at itâs best AND the shameful part is that they ALLOW it to go on AND still canât take the Presidency.
And then when the nominee will be someone else he will EVOLVE and decide to run as an Independent like he EVOLVED in all his other issues.
Exactly, heâs not beholden to this pledge anymore than the GOPers in Congress are actually beholden to Grover Norquistâs teenage dream pledge. Itâs a pledge, not much unlike those chastity pledges kids are forced to take that then results in a whole lot of butt sex.
