Iām not going to like anyone Trump picks, so it might as well be Petraeus. I think the āHillary is a crookā meme that they hammered away on for years, will be used to attack the Democrats in the future. (Theyāre Republicans, they can do that.) However, if he appoints Petraeus, it nullifies all of their self-righteous indignation over an email server, that was probably less likely to be hacked than the State Departmentās. That Senate hearing could be fun.

Petraeus shared military secrets with the woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair, he actually endangered national security and risked the lives of American troops in the process, and he was duly convicted for it. That was the essential cognitive dissonance with the Hillary email issue. She created a risk that foreign powers would gain unauthorized access to secret information about our plans to keep the store secure, which apparently did not happen, and that became a campaign issue for the guy who wants to give the store away.
