What a waste of Pelosi’s time. She has much to do and unlike Trump it is not watching Fox.

First question.
So Donald , How are the negotiations with Mexico going?

Trump didn’t call them to negotiate, he called them to brief them… my answer would be FU, I am not your lackey, you can come to the Capitol when you feel like negotiating.

Not “seize” control. FFS, TPM, you of all outlets ought to understand this. The Democrats WON control of the House. They did not “seize” it.

Trump’s smugness when he thinks he’s turning his criminal.blundering into a pompous winning hand is infuriating. And he fully believes he’s getting over, as a master negotiator.
One day, one day…

The White House plans to have the Department of Homeland Security give briefings about border security

I wouldn’t want to be one of those briefers if the congresscritters being lectured at start asking questions about the fallacious assumptions in the briefings. Please let this be on TV.

I’m going out on a limb to speculate he’s not going to do this in front of live media.

Pelosi’s strategy is to show that the Democrats can govern and get things done and that the GOP and Trump are the ones standing in the way of progress. She’s winning that battle easily. McConnell will have to decide whether he backs out of a fight and has the Senate vote to approve the clean CRs that will come from the House (which are identical to the ones the GOP just passed a few weeks ago) or whether to cover for Trump and take co-ownership of Trump’s shutdown.
Politically speaking, Pelosi probably hopes Mitch refuses to consider the bills or whips the caucus to vote against them. She would be setting the GOP up to take the political hit.

If this shutdown drags out, both parties will take hits, but the GOP is mistaken to think that the GOP won’t get the worst of it. The Dem coalition is united and is tired of GOP b.s. Trump is incoherent, is in a weak position because he is breaking key promises and making bad decisions, and the GOP is complicit in their inability to get Trump to do the simplest acts of governance. We can wait this out and take the heat. Trump and the GOP can’t.

Thank you! That was my thought as well. “Sieze” sounds as if it was illegal. How about “return to control”?
And please ask if the negotiations will be televised, and if not, why. It was such a gift last time!

“It’s not often the president gets to hear people tell him when he’s wrong,” said Justin Goodman, a spokesman for Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the minority leader. “Democrats intend to do that today.”

in the White House Situation Room for a border security briefing that could either be the latest skirmish over his wall or the beginnings of a resolution to a government shutdown that is stretching into its 12th day.

The 3 p.m. gathering will be in the secure room in the White House basement where military operations are tracked and other sensitive discussions unfold, a conscious effort to infuse a sense of national-security crisis into the immigration discussion.

The other notable briefing in the Sit Room was this.

It would also be sweet if they reminded him that they are a co-equal branch of government. He’s going to try to spin this as largess on his part. Pointing out that the Constitution says otherwise will be sweet.
