If I know this crowd, they probably regard deep space as a place to mine for more coal.
Americans are in for it the planet is in for it heil trump and his supporters
'The advisor, Bob Walker, said that the research “has been heavily politicized” and "Mr. Trump’s decisions will be based upon solid science, not politicized science.” ’
How, pray tell, is Trump going to know the difference? He seems to have little if any knowledge of science at all.
“Earth-centric science is better placed at other agencies where it is their prime mission."
What are those agencies for whom it’s “their prime mission”? What data have they turned out so far?
Mr. Trump’s decisions will be based upon solid science, not politicized science.”
Solid science = what some guy said on the Internet
Edit- John Oliver: Trump getting everything he knows off the Internet and being told it is inaccurate is like the guy who says: “What do you mean that sandwich tastes funny? I found it in a hole.”
Wasn’t the commercial ship Nostromo in Alien oirginally a deep space mining operation?
Such bullshit, its such political and corporate bullshit to gut nasa’s climate research. Come on everyone lets just stick a fork in our eyes that way we will never see any of the damage we are doing to the planet. That is sure to fix the issue.
Cause a President cutting an important research program isn’t politicized.
Well if NASA’s climate science is not “solid science” is anything they are doing “solid science” is drumpf the sole arbitrator on what is real science vs fake science? … fuck him and fuck those who didn’t vote for Hillary.
Well this is true. It has been totally politicized… by republicans. To the rest of us they’re just scientific facts.
Yeah, but Trump personally is open-minded. He thinks humans may have contributed to global warming. He just wants to de-politicize the discussion.
Same with Medicare, Social Security, etc.
“Depoliticizing” science by ending it.
Orwellian is too inadequate a term.
That’s hilarious. And exactly who is it that’s politicized it? That’s right, the republicans.
The advisor, Bob Walker, said that the research “has been heavily
politicized” and "Mr. Trump’s decisions will be based upon solid
science, not politicized science.” He said NASA funding will instead
shift to deep space exploration, as Trump campaigned on exploring the
entirety of the solar system by the end of the century, according to the
Guardian.
…
I don’t care what trump thinks. We have the data before our eyes:
This is the lake above Hoover Dam in 1999 and the same area in 2013. The shrinkage in the lake is due to lower rain fall in the Rockies. This is fact, not politics. Science by definition isn’t political, it is evidence driven. What someone does with those facts is the political part since some, like trump try to deny the evidence thereby making it political.
edit
I can post graphs of world temperature rise coupled with sea level rise but this sort of visual representation is better.
What about all those troublesome experts in the military who cite climate change as one of the major threats to our country? I guess they’ll need to be depoliticized as well.
Apparently neither Trump nor his team realize that the solar system is just a tiny speck in the known universe. “Deep space” research is research beyond the solar system and beyond our galaxy. Bob Walker’s comment makes no sense. We do have to keep an eye on the National Science Foundation’s budget, if anyone gets around to doing a 2018 budget once they’ve complete the budget due this past October.
At least when it finally goes bone dry it’ll be a nice place to ride ATVs.
The advisor, Bob Walker, said that the research "has been heavily politicized
Indeed it has by the GOP, The Oil industry, Evangelical Crackpot Religionists and the other usual suspects.
But not to worry. There’s a whole world of science beyond our borders The European Space Agency, The Chinese, etc. As we go lower, they will go higher.
This is the planet we’re talking about. This is really serious shit.
This is another reason why we cannot let him take over. We are out of time on global warming.
