That he has and I’m optimistic that his nonsense will be seen for what it is. But, honestly, I no longer understand so many of my white brothers and sisters and the rage and resentment that consumes so many of them. Yesterday, I was renewing my license at the Tucson MVD. There were no seats, and, being an old geezer, a young black woman offered to give me hers. Probably the kindest gesture I’ve received from a stranger in years. I thanked her for her kindness, but told her that I’m not that old, yet. Meanwhile, a very loud – they almost always are – trump supporter was in the row ahead expounding rudely about how great it would be in only half of Trump’s ideas were realized put in place. I was ashamed and repulsed.

Maybe he’s promising the blacks they can take on a lot of debt.He’s racked up $650 million in debts after making complicated American real estate and foreign deals. His money is also tied up in three passive partnerships
which owe an additional $2 billion to a string of lenders, including those that hold the loan on the Avenue of the Americas building. If those loans were to go into default, Mr. Trump might not be held personally liable, but the value of his investments would sink.
Every day it becomes more clear as to why we’ll never see tax returns, and we wouldn’t understand them if we did.

because conservative GOP folks have never had anything to do with underfunding public schools serving black communities and bleeding off school voucher and charter school money from these public schools, right? or supported every effort to keep black students from being schooled at whiter, better funded schools.
it is the old, tired GOP theme since Reagan that if there is poverty and crime in black enclaves it is all the result of THEIR inherent problems and has ZILCH to do with this country’s policy. It is also the ideology of William Shockley regurgitated 40 years later by the most racist candidate for President since George Wallace.

In the final analysis, it’s actually apparent that Trump’s speech was certainly aimed at white voters worried (or angry) about being labeled as racists and bigots and not truly at the African American community. He’s had a standing invitation to speak to the NAACP and ignores it. This is no ‘outreach’ to the AA community; it’s rather an attempt to court more white racists and make his “base,” riddled with white supremacists and bigots, ‘feel better’ and perhaps play on the fears of white suburbanites. And…if it also spurs 1 black voter to give his candidacy a second look, that couldn’t hurt because YamMan is currently running below Barry Goldwater’s historically awful performance among African-Americans.

It is also clear that Mr. Trump is talking at rather than to Black people. If I may be allowed to translate this comment into his normal speech, “Why don’t you Blacks wise up? HRC and the Dems are taking you for a ride!” This implies both that Black voters are not smart enough to know where their best interests lie and that he has their best interests at heart.

Wasn’t Reagan, Bush Sr.and George W. Bush president during those periods when blacks were starting to make progress (after Kennedy, LBJ, Carter and Clinton) and suddenly something would go terribly wrong like The Savings and Loan Fraud or the Bush Great Depression so both white and black voters had to throw them out of office on their butts?
There is an Ayn Rand pattern of fraud which has developed every damned time conservatives starting screwing with a winning progressive formula. Democrats are sick of mopping up after conservative frat parties. It’s always the working poor who gets assigned to sit at the back of the bus by Republicans and everybody knows it.
There isn’t a well educated white person in this country nor a poorly educated minority who can now be persuaded to believe that the Top 1% is suddenly interested in helping the middle class much less the working poor. You can lay out your “facts” and arguments but you are wasting your breath.
You train left the station at the end of the GOP primaries and is barrelling toward a derailment.
This time you want to make sure they don’t even get to vote.

Yep, this’ll work. African-Americans will be switching over to Trump by the millions (if they’re allowed to vote); and whites will be duly satisfied that they can continue to pretend that racism is no longer present in the Republican party. The Trump campaign’s new leadership team simply realizes that lip service is all it takes.

As is so often the case, you barely know where to start. But dovetailing with something Marshall said in his blog. These guys were asked why they were doing this in Dimondale and not in a black neighborhood. His surrogate said “Maybe it would have been nicer if he had a backdrop with a burning car!” Bless his little heart.
Wasn’t it just this week that one of them was saying they’re always on the phone with 100 African-American pastors committed to helping him win?! Why not go have it at one of their churches? 1% of 39 million is still plenty for a photo op. Maybe they’re not in battleground states but that’s never bothered him before.

Even Trump isn’t buying that one. Why is it necessary now for Donald to tell blacks that he will free them? It’s the same ploy that was tried by Nixon, St. Reagan and both Bushes. American workers just can’t afford to be tricked and cheated out of their vote now that the Top 1% have taken everything else from them.

I’m just glad to be spared Trump going to Howard University and asking the students there if they’ve ever heard of Abraham Lincoln.
I hope the ham-fisted bungling way he does this trick will drop the scales from the eyes of a few Republicans. Like watching one magician fumble a trick, once you know how it’s done, you aren’t fooled by a much better magician.

Oh for fuck’s sake. That’s like saying average unemployment under Hoover was better than it was under the first 4 years of FDR, without mentioning the onset of the Great Depression.
GOP duncenomics helped bring on the Great Recession and as a result the country was losing more than 800,000 jobs per month when Obama took office. It is utterly ridiculous and extremely misleading to compare average unemployment rates between the Obama years and the Bush years, without mentioning how Bush inherited a relatively strong economy and left his successor with a smoking ruin, whereas Obama started with the smoking ruin Bush left him, and leaves his successor in a much better position.
It takes a very focused effort at ignoring the obvious in order to make economic comparisons that blithely ignore that crucial bit of context.

… Yeah, his mother’s recipe, I’d be shocked if his mother knew how to boil water, let alone had a “famous recipe” for anything that didn’t start with “Waiter! I’d like to order…”
Edit to add: really, to be honest, I’m not even saying that to denigrate his mother… He grew up in New York City high society, they were not the kind of people who ate, let alone made, meatloaf.
