Discussion: Trump Thrilled With Barr, But Some Aides Think Performance Was 'Shortsighted'

If Trump is on the ballot on November 2020, several things will have happened…none of them good, given the gargantuan amount of wrongdoing and in-your-face of wrongdoing that would expel 100 presidents…

Trump is already preparing the bus…

You write very well, my friend.

Trump is going to be on the ballot. The GOP Senate will not impeach him, and the DOJ under Barr or anyone else acting /appointed by Trump is not going to indict him.

Humble thanks. Actually the first phrase that I thought of was it doesn’t “do it justice” but that seemed kind of like a wordplay equivalent of a tickle in the nose that never quite becomes a sneeze.

He slipped up seriously right at the end with his complaint that Mueller’s letter was “snitty” and likely written by a subordinate.

That put to a lie all his previous assertions that Mueller was concerned about press coverage and not Barr’s own summary/spin of the report.

In fact, Barr was embarrassed and irritated that his colleague criticized him and had the temerity to put that criticism into the public record.

some lawmakers may not view the attorney general as credible

The only lawmakers who see it otherwise have no credibility themselves.

And I bet you anything you want that Mueller sat down and drafted that letter to Barr himself, every single word of it. And probably left it on his computer overnight to sleep on and make sure he wasn’t overstating a single thing.

Trump hasn’t been thrilled by anything in his entire life. He’s going to fire this clown just like all the rest for taking the center of attention off of himself. Nobody casts a shadow bigger than The Sun King. He must be the center of the universe.
Barr assumes too much. He will be taught a lesson that all of Trump’s best and brightest learn far too soon.

But at least one person close to Trump told the Post that Trump’s happiness was “shortsighted” because some lawmakers may not view the attorney general as credible after he appeared to behave as if he was the President’s personal lawyer at the hearing.

Yes, I am just guessing, but this will go down as significant because it is so enormously understates the situation, as well as being the only glimmer of insight that could be culled from talking to the aides of Donnie two scoops.

Stephen Miller will see that Barr ends up in a cage for upstaging his Border policy.

Of course it was drafted by a subordinate. Duh. But a subordinate drafting that sort of letter would not give it a ‘snitty’ tone unless directed to do so by Mueller. A ‘snitty’ tone that Mueller didn’t intend would have been edited out before the letter was signed. Mueller either wrote the letter himself (and if so, I wish I could see the versions that were saved to the trash – you know, the Bill, you ignorant slut drafts) or it was written by an associate at his direction, and edited by Mueller before signing. Mueller is a careful guy: it says exactly what Mueller wanted to say.

Barr thinks we are all idiots who don’t understand how this stuff works.

Plus that he has aged 10 years in two years and looks like hell.

Does he know that Barr’s name is in more headlines?

It plays directly to his NPD.

No one could know he got help or else his image as winner is tainted. Ego burned.
If he looses without Vladdy, then it will threaten the image as winner as he couldn’t do it himself. Ego burned.

He is quite aware of the support he got. That’s the root cause of all the coverup attempts. Not hiding criminality, but protection of NPD ego.

NPD people do a nice job of painting themselves into corners then lashing out when there is no good escape. Sound familiar?

He may have let it sit over two or three nights. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t first draft, last draft. He put some serious time and thought into that letter before sending it.

I’m not so sure Vladdy’s gonna show up for big orange next year. Putin’s plan isn’t so much getting drumpf in office, as much as it is sowing chaos and discord in western democracies. In 2016, that meant drumpf. In 2020… who knows, they may determine that working to get the democrat to win would be more disruptive.

It’s inevitable. I predict Barr will be gone by September of this year.
