Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks
It´s a little disconcerting to wake up and find myself agreeing, in part, with Donald Trump.
As I understand it, the players do not have a constitutional right to protest on the filed. The Constitution stipulates that the government shall make no laws abridging freedom of speech. Non-government employers can impose rules that the government cannot. I do not believe that NFL owners should interfere with freedom of expression, but I do not see this as a constitutional issue. That said, if the government punishes an individual or corporation (corporations are individuals, too, according to the Republicans) for not sufficiently worshiping the flag, that would be a constitutional issue.

I would call the bluff. Teams cannot afford to bench 1/2 roster for games. What if entire roster took knee? Forfeit game?

While I do think the tax breaks and imminent domain law abuse that occur to support all major sports is appalling…taxes are not trump’s personal weapon that he can use to punish his enemies
He must really be frustrated by Coker, and his publicity stunt with Pence is not getting the praise he expected. He has to strike out at something, and they’re convenient.
On the other hand, it’s nice to know that he has time to track every rating of every entity in the country.

So, Trump is using the power of his office to try to intimidate the NFL into cracking down on First Amendment expression.
This is an impeachable offense.
With Trump in the White House it is no wonder presidential ratings have “tanked,” in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the world!
This does exactly what, Dotard, towards your legislative goals of “tax reform” (screw the country into poverty while making cronies even more extremely wealthy), “repeal/replace Obamacare” (who gives a f*ck about sick people), “jobs” (farcical statements - not followed by my own companies who manufacture overseas and employ temporary foreign workers at my hotels). Oh that’s right - it does nothing. All a public acting out of your psychosis. Way to go - let it all hang out.
Many say the object of the player’s protests, mistreatment at the hands of police, have been lost in all this and morphed into the perception they’re anti-Trump displays. Trump has spent his entire adult life oppressing, abusing and badmouthing black people. His campaign was a three legged stool, built on racism, xenophobia and misogyny. Trump IS the cop shooting black people in the back. The signal he sends to society at large, and law enforcement specifically, is blacks are part of the problem, and they need dealt with harshly. If pro sports protests become equal parts police and Trump critiques so be it, that would be appropriate.
“Stool” is a good word to use any time one refers to Trump.
My first thought: impeachable offense.
It really isn’t a Constitutional issue. But the players are within their rights as employees, nonetheless. The NFL is a union shop. As such, they have published rules for both the union and teams. The rule for the playing of the anthem before games says it MUST be played, but that players SHOULD stand. Players win.
Jeff Sessions and Anusmouth-Putindickholster should sue the NFL if they have the cojones.
