And how exactly do you propose to do that, mr president?
And keep it shut down until Mexico coughs up that check!
“Blame the Democrats!”
“For Republicans not funding the wall!”
“That Mexico’s gonna pay for!”
“That I already built!”
(Or something.)
Let’s hope the Democrats hit this weak spot, over and over.
It would take everybody’s mind off Jim Acosta getting his press pass back or me getting my shit ruined on Election Night or even Russia, in which there was NO COLLUSION!
Right up until the time an indictment drops. hahahahahahahaha
Brilliant plan. Shut down the government over wall funding, pull the military and CBE away from their border enforcement duties, let the marauding hordes from Central America invade, then blame it all on the Democrats for not funding the wall. The man is a political genius.
And stable, too.
Fixed the one typo. I assume you meant “genus”, and I’d agree - he’s clearly genus Physarum, which include a wide cross-section of other slime molds, as well…
California has a historically bad, out of control forest fire, people are having a hard time BREATHING across the state, over a thousand people are missing, over 70 people dead, the situation is desperate with increasing winds and no rain until mid next week.
And in the middle of all THIS… our goddamn president is tweeting about his fucking wall and threatening to shut down our government.
Fuck. Him.
Isn’t he litteraly visiting a disaster area? A disaster he has repeatedly claimed could have been averted if the federal government usurped state land managment in the area? Sounds like the perfect time to call for a government shut down…
Would a government shutdown impact Mueller?
I know it’s really only 13 angry and conflicted illegal Democrats, but I also recently read that something like 400 government employees are part of the probe (which has already cost each taxpayer $805 quadrillion dollars).
If there’s a shutdown, do all those folks go home while Putin hunts down Mifsud?
I think this came up at least once before when he threatened a shutdown and I think the answer is No it wouldn’t. Mueller already has his funding.
Better he tweet about shutting down the government than actually doing something, which is guaranteed to be extremely bad. The most promising news of the day is the norovirus epidemic in the camps of survivors of the fire. Cross your fingers - Trump might visit them.
Government shutdown. Yes that’s what Californians want to hear that their going to furlough the firefighters and the forest service staff.
Most of the forested areas in California are in National Forests, already “managed” by the federal government, which is, believe it or not, and in spite of obvious evidence, managed by Trump. So, I suppose Trump is now in favor of impeaching Trump?
I’m almost certain he has no idea what it means to shut down the government and the consequences that follow…but it sure sounds tough. So squint those eyes a little and set that jaw and get yourself a nice photo op for Christmas you can send to all the rubes.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
It’s foolhardy these days to suppose that ordinary rules will apply … but if they do, the answer is:
Probably not much, but it does depend on how long the shut-down lasts.
A shut-down is precipitated by the failure of Congress to pass the usual appropriations — but the work of special counsels is largely funded separately by what’s called a “permanent indefinite appropriation” (see 28 U. S. C. §591 for some details).
The exceptions denoted by that “largely” are few, but they may be affected if a shut-down goes on and on.
