Discussion: Trump Thinks Appointing Pro-Life Judges 'Automatically' Overturns Roe V. Wade

But what if the court’s vote is rigged!!!

We need some Trump supporters to watch the vote carefully.

Trump’s true spirit animal is the weasel

That is insulting to weasels. I think he looks much more like Jabba the Hut. A real slug.

I’m willing to give him this, even though he’s being a weasel and a jerk. Once he appointed two or three rightwing nutbars to the court, either some state would pass an abortion ban and the court would uphold it. Or there would be some completely unrelated case before the new court, and footnote 97 would say, “Oh, and by the way we have decided that as a result of our reasoning here Roe v. Wade no longer holds.”

Not quite automatic, but effect enough.

Donald, 5 of the 7 justices in the majority opinion of Roe v Wade were Republican appointees.

I can’t focus on what he’s saying. I’m distracted by his short fingers.

There’s this rumor that FOX gave Trump a heads-up on the questions that were togint be asked.
Anything that has a FOX-TRUMP touch is crocked.

“Donald, 5 of the 7 justices in the majority opinion of Roe v Wade were Republican appointees.”

A far different pack of Republicans than what you see these days.

I can’t believe I am defending Trump, but it was pretty clear that he was inferring that a conservative SCOTUS would find a way to overturn Roe v. Wade and that would not happen automatically…

It is not like we don;t have real examples of his utter incompetence for the office…

Anti-abortion litmus test to get an appointment from tRump.

I can still hear the Republicans screaming, for years, about how unAmerican and anti-Democratic litmus tests are. How disqualifying they are to make appointments.

I wonder if they will remember their own words.

Time to start digging up some old tape from years gone by.

In Trump’s defense, he doesn’t understand the concept of advisory opinions or real case or controversy, or standing, or stare decisis, original jurisdiction, or the constitution, or the role of the Supreme Court, or the role of the Circuit courts of appeals, or district courts, or the supremacy clause, or what it means to “advise and consent,” or that justices serve life terms, or what a third-trimester is in pregnancy, or respect for democracy, or… or, or… my fingers hurt now.

So, what law school did HO attend??
Before I retired I was a scientist and I did research into reproductive physiology and ovarian cancer at a medical school. I wonder where trump got his understanding of human reproduction.

Trump’s words from the article:
“If we put another two or perhaps three justices on, that will happen,”
he said. "And that will happen automatically, in my opinion, because I
am putting pro-life justices on the court."
…
As I understand English trump is saying the overturn would be automatic because of the appointments he would make.

I will grant you that Trump has no idea how the Court works if you grant me that a conservative court would overrule Roe v. Wade the first chance it could…

I’ll grant you that.

Of course a conservative court would eventually overrule Roe v Wade. But I don;t think, as Trump said, it would be automatic simply because the new judges would have been appointed by him. Trump has little understanding of the actual meaning of what he says. He just throws out word salad and hopes some sticks. And he has less understanding of how the legal profession or judges operate than I do and I have none; Trump thinks he is a expert because he hires lots of lawyers to work for him. Being a judge is an entirely different ball game.
