Good article in the Times today.
¨The only variable that can explain the high rate of mass shootings in America is the astronomical number of its guns.¨

The graph shows just how ¨special¨ we are.

Of course the status quo is perfect, and will be perfecter if it’s much worse. It’s that way with everything. So if you voted for this self-dealing lummox because he would “shake things up” in his brash, no-prisoners way, then kindly go to the bathroom, take a long look in the mirror, and then punch yourself in the face.

“If you did what you are suggesting it would have made no difference three days ago. And you might not have had that very brave person who happened to have a gun or a rifle in his truck go out and shoot him and hit him and neutralize him,” Trump said. “And I can only say this, if he didn’t have a gun, instead of having 26 dead, you would have had hundreds more dead. So that’s the way I feel about it.”

but officially, that Trump statement makes him a pivotal ally of AG Paxton, so yeaaa

Serious question,

So this armed “hero” bystander shot the gunman who was fleeing? Isn’t this technically not self defense?

I understand that police officers in pursuit of a suspect May shoot a fleeing suspect, but does that really qualify as standing your ground for a civilian? Is that even technically legal?

I just don’t understand the choices Republicans make. Fossil fuel companies and gun manufacturers are their very special friends, protected at any cost, right? WTF? The Republican Party is a death cult?

He must have talked with Steve Bannon again…

Look, so long as everyone in the room has a gun, and they’re all firing their guns, the wisdom of 2nd Amendment is proven valid. More guns, more mayhem, more death, more sorrow. MAGA.

Let’s just forget for a moment that the killer was chased once he was done with his shooting spree, that the “good guy with a gun” apparently didn’t hit him or, if he did, it wasn’t enough to stop him from fleeing the scene and drive for miles, that he the crashed at a high speed and either died from a self-inflicted gun shot(s) or had been hit and died from the crash. Those are inconvenient facts that no one could possibly be expected to know if they have access to the best intelligence in the country, even though I know.

The killer left 15 empty 30-round cartridges in the church.

Fucking Moron says something fucking moronic.

I don’t know but I’ve heard tell
You can shoot a felon if he runs like hell.
It might turn out to be a joke
But it’s good enough for Texas folk.

As I posted on another story this morning, but more properly belongs here:

At a news conference in South Korea, President Donald Trump was asked if he would support “extreme vetting” for gun purchases like he’s called for “extreme vetting” for people entering the country. Trump responded by saying stricter gun control measures might have led to more deaths in the shooting because a bystander who shot at the gunman would not have been armed.

“If he didn’t have a gun, instead of having 26 dead, you would have had hundreds more dead,” Trump said.

First, is Trump saying the bystander perhaps should not have been armed if vetted more strictly - since there are probably a lot of people out there who should not have guns? Or that stricter gun laws might - should - prohibit assault weapons?

Second, there weren’t hundreds of people in that little church, Donnie. Stop exaggerating and lying to support your argument.

Third, there were at least 15 empty magazines recovered that held 30 rounds each. He shot over 450 rounds. Human killing ammo, nothing else. A ban on these would make sense, too.

That chart is so “Well, DUH!!!”

What is mind-boggling is that there are (way too many) people who think that moving further to the right along the x-axis will result in a negative effect along the y-axis. And that corporate tax breaks will give Joe Average more money in his pocket.

Fairy tales, apparently, are alive and well in Trumpworld.
