Discussion: Trump: Texas Shooting Is A 'Mental Health' Issue, Not A 'Guns Situation'

There definitely is a mental health situation here. But it’s not just the one that the Rump mentions. There’s also the mental health situation where deranged individuals can get as many guns as they want as well as the one where a man of Trump’s ignorance, stupidity and mental derangement is president of the United States.

Well, whether it’s the GOP voters who turn out to vote against their interests, or the indifferent, complacent or too-pure non-GOPers who stay away from the polls to empower the GOPers, Trump’s not the only one who’s “inadaptive”.

So, hold is feet (big feet, very big feet) to the fire. How much will his maladministration add to spending on mental health issues? Will his maladministration support limits on allowing dangerously mentally-ill individuals to have access to firearms?

Per cnn;
Trump says Texas shooting result of ‘mental health problem’ not US gun laws.

So says the fucking expert.

An assault rifle? Are you implying this person would only need one? This is America! Our psychos have full-on arsenals. I think most gun shops run BOGO offers these days if you’re sufficiently white and crazy enough.

Like I said yesterday…the Congress won’t do a goddamned thing.

If this is a mental health issue, then there should be no difficulty taking action to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill since there is overwhelming bipartisan support for this policy.

Totally agree all gun owners must be psychologically evaluated yearly. Wanting to own a military style rifle should be a sign of mental disease and banned from owning firearms at all.

So let’s say that the solution is to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. What is Trump’s solution to this problem? I’m willing to wager that it is to do nothing about either mental health issues or the gun situation.
[/quote]He will educate the mentally ill not to use guns. Kind of like the opioid crisis solution.

Just say no to mass murder.

So, did they offer “thoughts and prayers” to the victims at the Texas Open Carry Rally held right after the shooting?

I think Congress will wring their hands and say how sorry they are. Beyond that…nothing. NRA donations being too important

I wonder how trump, posing as a mental health expert, diagnosed this kid’s mental problems (if any) having never heard of him before yesterday. And from half a world away to boot.

So today at the WH press briefing when a reporter asks SHS when will she talk about gun control and she replies back, “It’s too soon blah, blah, blah”, then the next reporter should ask “Can we set a date? When can we pencil in a start on this debate? How does next Monday work for you?”

Something that bothers me is that photographs of the crime scene are never published. If we start seeing video of the carnage and a photo of how a Sandy Hook classroom published in the front page, people will realize that, “shooting” is much more than a harmless “hobby”.

The anti-abortion people has been using fetus pictures for years, and in some places they have tried to pass laws to force patients to force patients to look at the fetus. In Brazil the whole backside of cigarette packs is a picture of lungs with cancer or other gross things associated with smoking.

Headlining the news, Donald Trump tweeted something that was both repulsive and idiotic.

Also, bears still poop.

It is a mental health issue. Members of Congress are fucking insane and will continue to do nothing but cash those NRA checks. #Complicit

The man had long standing mental health issues and he could still buy a gun? In what universe is this not an access to guns issue?

Well it’s not just the parents of Sandy Hook victims that are being harassed, the LV victims are being harassed, and so there is a group among us that doesn’t believe that these mass shootings are real, even under a “Republican President.” The survivors of mass shootings are now going to have to ask/demand from FLOTUS that she get off her duff and come up with measures to protect those getting bullied online quicker.

Right, because a person who had assaulted his wife and kid and did jail time for it should be able to buy an assault rifle…

It’s always too soon to talk about guns … and then it’s too late… and then it’s too early (again … and then…
