There was no denunciation, just a vague statement against racism. He did not call out the people in DC who chant ‘Heil Trump.’ He is on twitter singling out the cast of Hamilton for their respectful statement to Pence, yet he leaves the issue of Nazis celebrating his victory to an unnamed staffer who does not even truly address what happened.

It really is the least–really bare minimal effort. They wait several days and release a pretty tepid statement rather than Trump voice anything himself. Hell–not even anything out of his twitter feed.
How many times has he contradicted what others in his own campaign have said? How many times did we hear his surrogates say he doesn’t really mean what he says?

What a forceful denunciation of racism! And a written statement released by the transition team is so much better than, say, a forceful public denunciation by Trump himself. Very brave. I also like how they managed to turn a statement purportedly denouncing racism into a whining complaint about those trying to hold Trump accountable for his near silence on the issue. What a leader.

I’m not buying this denunciation; it’s obviously fake. It comes in the form of a written “statement.” Everyone knows by now that an authentic denunciation from the Guy would come in the form of a middle of the night twitter rant.
