Both believe strongly that practicing their religion consists primarily of making others follow their beliefs, not their own, while they fudge their own beliefs anytime they get a bit uncomfortable for them.
Mike Pence is willing to go to war against Russia to defend American values; Donald Trump wants to team up with Russia and ignore the Syrian government’s atrocities.
Mike Pence accepts as gospel that Obama invaded Iraq and was responsible for not keeping troops there (that’s one particular thing that I’m mad at Kaine for), until he decided to run; Donald Trump conviently forgot that he supported the Iraq invasion.
Mike Pence is under the impression that Obama shared part of W’s term and allowed the Russians to invade South Ossetia (the second thing that I’m mad at Kaine for); Donald Trump is sure that under his watch, Putin wouldn’t dare invade the Crimea.

Well, he (Pence) had the good judgment not to defend Trump and then proceeded to prove himself an abject liar in saying Trump never said things which Kaine said he did, which we know for a fact (because we have it on video) Trump did say those things.
Yeah, Kaine did a good job of hounding Pence about Trump, but he was so focused on that that he let some obvious whoppers from Pence go by.
Oddly, taco trucks were not what came to mind when Pence referred to whipping out that Mexican thing.

Perhaps I am misremembering things but it seems to me that Pence was forced on HO. I don’t think HO can take credit for the “good judgement” of picking him. Not that it actually was good judgement anyway…
Pence is the usual conservative banality of evil we are used to. He’s one of those awful governors like Brownback, Walker, Snyder, and McCrory who wrap up shitty policies that do actual harm to people with an aw-shucks smile.
Yeah, we never did find out who leaked that Pence was the pick, but Trump sure as hell tried to disavow it right away. Good judgment, surrounding himself with all the right people, etc. Unh - hunh.
