If trump thought the House Teas would blithly add the debt ceiling authorisation as a rider, he is even dumber than I thought. What magic wand does he think PR and MMc have?
Gee, I wonder what FOX and Friends suggested this morning?
Trump certainly didn’t come up with this idea on his own.
Maybe it was Dumb Jr.?
Paul R. and Mitch M. better get used to having very uncomfortable conversations with Nancy P. and Chuck S. They should also get used to having those conversations on their knees with hat in hand begging for votes. And if Republicans are willing to raise the debt ceiling cleanly AND pass a clean CR, Democrats should give them as the votes they need in order to get a veto proof majority. Democrats should do it for no other reason than to further sow division among Republicans while also humiliating the president. And if Republicans can’t muster the votes, enough Democrats should vote for it so that the blame lies squarely with the GOP.
Hahahahahhahahhaaaaaaaaaa!
Just keep kickin’ 'em, Donnie. They’ll love you for it in the morning.
What VA bill is Trump referring to?
Whatever he colors his hair with has seeped into his brain, such as it is…
Maybe Pelosi and Schumer should offer to meet Trump in the White House for talks without the distraction of squabbling Republicans.
Bet he vetoes it, just because he can.
You know, when we look at that stock photo (most likely) of 45 between Turtle and Rayn, the two of them look so smug and so happy with themselves, now that they have exactly what they asked for.
Of course, now, it’s clearly not what they wanted because, right or wrong, 45 is calling them out on their inability to lead and 45 is really making them look bad.
Of course, 45 is making himself look bad, too, so for the opposition it’s a win-win all around.
I don’t know if the two numbskulls are pasting on $hit-eating grins or if they really think they put one over on us. I seriously can’t tell. But united? No.
I’m genuinely confused. What does a V.A. Bill have to do with the debt ceiling? I think you’re right about that: It sounds as if he heard some “things” and then got the ideas mixed up and came up with - this.
In any case, plucky is 100% on the mark with the idea that the Dems are in the position of getting the most concessions in these negotiations. Especially, the debt ceiling. Yertle has already made it clear that there’s no way that America is defaulting on international obligations. Not gonna happen no matter what rump wants.
@paulw I think it’s entirely possible that he might issue a veto out of pure spite.
What’s the good of a veto pen if you don’t use it? Just like nuclear weapons.

[/quote]And Trump. as he often does in a meeting, has that serious presidential scowl which says to me, “I look like I’m paying attention and am analyzing the information in my big brain, but in actuality I have absolutely no idea what’s being said, stopped paying attention a long time ago, and my thoughts are wandering through my empty head so quickly and furtively that I can’t latch onto a single one, and I also wonder what’s for dinner and whether there will be chocolate cake and 2 scoops for me.”
Great strategy to win McConnell’s support, Donnie! Keep it up.
i guess the john Kelly pipe dream of getting trump in line just vanished
That dream is turning into Kelly’s long career flashing before his eyes and disappearing over the horizon.
Mostly it has to do with House and Senate GOPs failure/refusal to conduct business in “regular order”. CRs and temporary this-that-and the other stuff forces them to try to tie major legislation to anything they can to squeak it through.
But at the end of the day trump is going to be trump this is on the GOP now. Yet again putting their selfish wants before what’s best for the country
You can tuck anything you want to into a bill as an amendment.* Doesn’t have to have anything to do with the main bill.
Â
*Unless the bill is being considered under budget reconciliation, and then there are certain things that can’t be included.
He just signed legislation that makes it easier for vets to appeal disability claims decisions. He was touting it earlier this week when spoke to the veterans’ convention in Reno.
