Discussion: Trump Taps GOP Rep. Mick Mulvaney For Budget Director

I can’t decide if this hurts worse than it helps - I get rid of my congressman, while Trump gets someone who is as far out there as David Stockton when he was tapped to be Reagan’s budget director. Just saw at tweet from Matthew Yglesias pointing out ole Mick was one of the leaders not wanting to raise the debt ceiling, and insisting it would not be any real problem with the economy. Wonder if he will be willing to test this now?

I suspect it’s possible that congress might ignore TrUmps budget as they did Obamas.

OT, I mentioned this on another thread but has had to say to a Trump supporter praising Russia, “if you like Russia so much, why don’t you go live there”?

I see these people on WaPo and other message boards. I remember these comments lobbed at liberals not so long ago.

This guy is one of the idiots who thinks he can run the economy of the richest country in the world like grandma’s household budget - if grandma thought the most important thing to buy with money from the cookie jar were assault rifles. This may be one of the worst picks yet and it will fly under the radar while we all talk about the latest tweet. The Republicans sense of the world economy and the US role in it is demoralizing. If they have total control they do not have to abolish any government programs - they will just use the Norquist method of starving them to death.

Or they might totally screw us
I’m hoping they won’t start a war
I’m hoping they don’t crash the economy
I’m hoping they don’t privatize Medicare
I’m hoping they don’t turn SS over to Wall St
I’m hoping they don’t dismantle Obamacare
I’m hoping they don’t dismantle the EPA
I’m hoping they don’t make abortion illegal

Not much hope is there?

Well he certainly didn’t retain any info from he’s degree from Georgetown in International Finance, Commerce and Economics. With all his fancy book learning and law degreeing owning your own restaurant and congressing seems he couldn’t get on at Goldman Sachs.

Bannon and Pence are making all of these picks - Trump doesn’t even know who this guy is. He had already promised the job to Scott Baio.

hhhhhmmmmmm … a Budget Director from the State & Party that brought Flint their Market-based, Low-cost, Tea-Party Liquid Refreshment System™ using old pipes and “creative” water. What could possibly go wrong?

McMurphy was sane but I’ll overlook that fact if Congress will lobotomize Trump to avoid any more outbursts.

This guy is a living embodiment of the Republicans’ motto: Ignorant and proud of it.

Oh great. I can hardly wait to hear what his superpower is. Doesn’t believe in arithmetic? Thinks numbers are signs from Satan?

None at all. Looking at the POSPEOTUS lineup last night, I was thinking that with so many Fox and Breitbart alumni, they will act out their version of reality. It will fail, and they will never see that they are wrong. Same as trickle-down economic only worse.

One more hole punched through the wall of sanity to let in the vapors of madness and stupidity, or mad stupidity, or stupid madness… or… oh fuck Trump and all things Trump. The sooner we dump these assholes into the toilet and get on with dealing with the real world the better.
