Discussion: Trump Surfaced Sanctuary Cities Immigrant Plan To Distract From Mueller Report

Itā€™s always, all about, ā€œThe art of the diversion.ā€

tRump always hopes that the size of his ass will distract people from noticing his missing brain and black heart.

But ā€¦ why would he want to distract from a report that totally exonerates him? No Collusion. No Obstruction.

I guess he just doesnā€™t want to rub it in that it was clearly a total Witch Hunt.

A pundit I watched on MSNBC online this weekend made a point we need to remember: ā€˜Donald Trump is not a politicianā€™. He is instead a demagogue, showman and con artist. He doesnā€™t spend any time trying to develop or advance policies or balance the interests of various groups. He focuses only on doing 3 things: 1. Controlling the media cycle, 2. Energizing his base, and 3. Denigrating his enemies.

Yes. Heā€™s a product of the New York tabloid culture, in which all coverage is ultimately short-term and transactional.

Gregg Allman once said, ā€œI donā€™t care what you write about me, as long as you spell my name right.ā€ If Trump has a tattoo, itā€™s very likely on his ass, and itā€™s very likely this quote.

Iā€™d like to know how the WH has already written a 140 page counterreport to a report weā€™ve been #Barred from seeing.

Some Hill offices are stockpiling whiskey and drafting pizza orders in anticipation of a reading marathon for the Mueller report. Trumpā€™s lawyers are trying to whittle down their 140-page counterreport to about 50 pages, mostly focused on obstruction. https://t.co/4e7C5PjuHp

it helps that their counterreport needs no basis in reality. in fact, the less itā€™s based in reality the more convincing it is to their supporters.

Short of walking down 5th Ave naked, nothing Trump does is going to distract from Muellerā€™s Report.
The public wants to see it.

No, we donā€™t ! Oh, you meant the Mueller report ā€¦

Itā€™s also a matter of inoculation and building up antibodies among his faithful. Imagine if everything now acknowledged about Trump and Stormy Daniels had been openly admitted in October 2016. Lights out.
But dribs, drabs, distractions, itā€™s internalized in the Village and makes Trump even more popular with his followers.
With the Mueller Report, theyā€™re using the same tactics, and ultimately every charge may be established, and Trump will attempt a ā€˜the people donā€™t care defenseā€™. And Mara Liasson and Chuck Todd will marvel at what an iconoclast he is.
I think the treason he might get a pass. Not so sure about the money-laundering for the Russian Mob.

Lawless.

To follow Trump is to hand over the Constitution to himā€¦a neat trick.

If we get out of this, the social scientists will have to greatly alter some of their premises about American cultureā€¦not about the basic nature of people, but about the persistence of attitudes Trump has exploited, is exploiting, will exploit.

Chief Troll wouldā€™ve loved this sanctuary-city crap whether the Mueller report existed or not. Itā€™s the weaponization of backlash against political correctness, by assholes.

So when the Report drops on Good Friday, we can expect that heā€™ll distract the media by announcing that heā€™s begun crucifying immigrants at the borderā€¦

I think Mr. Trump also benefits from the fact that his ā€˜personal brandā€™ was so bad to begin with. No one viewed him as a person with any honesty, principles or integrity. Saying that ā€˜Donald Trump is dirtyā€™ becomes akin to saying that ā€˜Water is wetā€™.

That was my immediate reaction to this bs. Squirrel!! Look over there!

Can we please stop looking at the next shiny object. Stay on target and work the problem.

Classic NYT here: ā€œHe has has floated the idea of a pardon for Kevin McAleenan, now his acting homeland security secretary, if he encountered any legal problems in shutting the southwestern border. And he has heightened his attacks on the press beyond his normal refrain of ā€œfake news,ā€ falsely claiming that journalists are ā€œknowinglyā€ bending the truth.ā€

No mentioning of the illegality of floating a pardon McAleenan, but they are quick to defend their own interests and say that it is false that journalists are bending the truth. And they completely let slide once more the difference between no evidence of collusion and no criminal indictment for conspiracy. Frustrating, to put it mildly.

As usual, phony sources. Who are these unnamed sources close to the Prez?
