I don’t remember that but God knows the righties regularly pressure-cook themselves into these furors because the country’s fate hangs in the balance, the protesters are emissaries of Satan, etc. etc. Simple decency and basic citizenship pretty much require that you stomp and spit on them. But still that blind, mindless, misdirected rage seemed to have creepy historical echoes just for a moment there.

It’s scary to know that the majority of Republicans really have moved into the unhinged camp. According to Pollster, 62.7 percent of GOP voters currently support extremist demagogues or the certifiably insane (Trump, Carson, Cruz, Huckabee, Paul and Santorum), while only 29.7 support the rest of the candidates now in the race (some of whom are just as onerous). The problem is that whomever is the nominee will have to satisfy voters, oligarchs and leaders who are violently racist, reactionary, anti-democratic. We’re getting a peak at what this means in the drama currently playing out in the House.

Yes, and most of the Republican House members voted against funding the government.
The general amusing thing is remember when the conservative groups were happy about the town hall meetings that people showed up to and screamed. I can only imagine that it would result in outright fights if the script were flipped as the tolerance of conservatives is pretty low.

It is not really that surprising though. Many of these people feel the world is going to Hell in a handbasket because of a loss of leadership and moral American values or some such. It has been building for a while, but tends to mask away when they get a GOP guy in the WH and explodes to unhinged levels when a Dem is there. Was not this bad before but it was bad during Clinton.

There have been a number of such incidents associated with the Trump campaign, from people beating up and urianating on homeless people, citing Trump as their inspiration for such acts; his campaign security detail aggressively waging into groups of protesters to steal their signs and rip them up and then engaging in altercations over their actions; to people showing up and screaming White Power at his rallies.
And each and every time, Trump gives his approval to such acts. As actual elections get closer, such acts are going to become more common as tempers become hotter. You have to keep in mind the mentality of people who support Trump…they want to be the first ones to stick a finger up at the Establishment. Now they are seeing their friends and neighbors following them into the Trump camp, so they of course have to go further in the quest…thus, cracking skulls becomes a very attractive option,
