Discussion: Trump Supporter to CNN’s Ana Navarro: You Can’t Be Latino and American <!--EndFragment-->

I suppose he thought she should be in a sombrero and leading a burro.

Come to think of it, he’s right-- she’s Latina.

hhhhmmmmm…Does Trump Supporter really forget that his crowd & Trump publicly doubted that Obama (born in Hawaii to an American mother) was an actual American? Is there any consistency of logic and thought among anybody within the GOP?

Also: Getting a good definition of Latino or Hispanic would indeed help us all. Does Nicaraguan count? What are the boundaries exactly? Haitians no? Dominicans yes? Does everybody dislike the Cubans? What are Costa Ricans?

I want to grab this woman by the shoulders and shake the shit out of her. You are not one of them, they do not like you. They dislike you not because you’re a loathsome or an awful person (you are!), but because of the color of your skin. And all the ass-kissing, fitting in, and attempts to be “one of the good ones” isn’t going to do a damn bit of good.

That doesn’t seem to bother the Log Cabin Republicans, either.

Clearly this is yet another conservative believer who buys whatever BS spin he’s fed, entirely unaware that it’s just spin and not to be taken literally. Republican leaders used to know this, and could deftly walk the fine line between stupid and clever. But at some point, all the adults died or left the party; leaving a bunch of bozos who have no clue how the game is played.

And in this case, what he’s getting at is the insult against anyone who claims to be African-American, based on the bizarre idea that every other immigrant group assimilated immediately except for the blacks and Hispanics; which is why they deserve our scorn and hatred. So Little Italy and Chinatown don’t exist in various cities, and nobody claims to be of Italian or Irish descent. My family is clearly German stock, yet in their mind, we have no idea who we are besides Americans.

What a bizarre joke. I’ve argued with conservatives about this before, pointing out how it’s entirely untrue that every other group shed their cultural identity. But they refuse to believe their lying eyes, because they’ve got an insult to make against dark-skinned people and will be damned to lose it to reality.

Exactly, anyone who lives within two hours of Cincinnati, home of the largest German population outside of Germany, knows you can’t get anywhere near that God forsaken den of racist, antisemitic morons without somebody whipping out some lederhosen and a beer stein while proudly proclaiming their German heritage. It’s as though these people think that as long as you’re bragging about some European-American heritage it’s still pretty much American.

This dimwit represents the real danger of a Trump candidacy—he will bring the loons out of hiding in YOOOGE numbers, and they’ll be spewing their bug-eyed bile on cable, on broadcast, on social media, and in print. Hispanic-Americans won’t fail to see what the vast majority of African Americans already have noticed—today’s Republican Party is filled with ignorant, spittle-flecked bigots.

Too late. While the MSM has certainly been hanging onto Trump’s every word and sort of chucking and saying, “that’s just the Donald”, the Spanish language media has been very serious in it’s coverage of his commentary and the lack of forceful denouncement from his fellow Republicans. Unless Jeb! is the nominee I’m not sure that it isn’t too late for the GOP to try to make any inroads with the Hispanic community.

Lord contended that Navarro, who was born in Nicaragua, could no longer define herself as a Latino because she had been naturalized as a U.S. citizen.

OK, I get it, no more Italian-Americans, Irish, Polish, etc, Americans… or is just bigotry for the Brown skinned xxx-Americans.

Some are just somehow naturally susceptible to those who would rule through fear – Once scared absolutely shitless, they grasp onto the most extreme fix that comes along with the grip of a drowning man–

There are many, many, many within the Republican fold who are in serious need of intensive mental treatment-- While, at times, I wish I could just slap the shit out of them ,I actually feel sorry for them –

They may live long lives, but they will always exist just bouncing off the surface-- Never ever getting a “deeper” understanding of life and living-- And when they die, they do so never having “gotten it” –

       SO SO SAD !

She’s probably a Republican because she got here on account of something Reagan did, but that doesn’t excuse her inability to see the evidence before her very eyes since she’s been here.

Only kind of. Most of the bigots/racists I’ve encountered only hate the people they don’t really know, they hate in general, not as much in specific. They hate the caricatures of race that have been painted by their upbringing or in some cases, their news sources.

I took a bit of satisfaction from this. Ana Navarro is one of the most ignorant and delusional GOP members out there, and she is completely blind to what her party represents and how they actually feel about her. I enjoy these moments, where it’s right in her face, and watching her be both surprised and still in denial about it at the same time.

Suffering? Hell no! She is making a good living out it. Blacks and non-cuban Latinos have a future in the GOP just by showing up. Republicans like them because they can say they are not racists because they them. If they go out and say that the Democrats are the ones that running a plantation and that welfare is worse than slavery so much better.

If someone with marginal talent like Ana Navarro goes to the Dems… she does not have any novelty value for them, she’d never get close to a camera or any of the big buck consulting ops.

After the hateful things The Donald has said recently I am quite sure he can write off Southern Arizona, and Northern Arizona leaving the morons in Phoenix to fend for themselves.

She’s revolting. He’s an idiot.

In the US a person born of Latin American descent is considered to be a Latina or a Latino. The term is not interchangeable with Chicana/o, however.

Jesus, yeah, I’m an American, but I’m also proud of my Italian heritage. I’m both, and I don’t want some sonofabitch
telling me to deny that splendid heritage. Typical xenophobic asshole who doesn’t believe in “hyphenated Americans.”
