“supporting Trump is not a religion.”
I’m sure that 45 would disagree.
He sued the West Village bar claiming the incident “offended his sense of being American.”
WTF does that mean?
Not only did he have no legal basis for a “political” discrimination claim, but, like any good Trump supporter, he was fabricating the whole story in the first place:
But the bar shot back in court with receipts showing that Piatek paid for an $181.91 bill with Miller High Lifes and vodka drinks — and added a $36 tip, about 20 percent of the bill after tax, according to Gothamist and the Post. Happiest Hour owner Jon Neidich called Piatek’s lawsuit “a publicity stunt” and said that the tip showed that the man must have been “sufficiently pleased with his service.”
The guy is a liar who made up the whole thing. Hope the bar now sues him for defamation.
***TPM: Please edit your story to note that his claim that he was thrown out is just that – a mere claim, unsupported by any evidence.
Bub, you might want to think about other things that could offend your sense of being an American.
…supporting Trump is not a religion…
I’m not sure about that. If you accept the definition of “faith” as, “belief in things for which there is no objective evidence,” you might conclude that Trumpism fits the description.
Would that argument work for an impeachment ? Asking for a friend…
He sued the West Village bar claiming the incident “offended his sense of being American.”
That’s a sense that needs to be offended more often.
Yeah, no objective evidence that he’s any of the things he or his supporters claim him to be.
Just like their Moran-in-Chief, the MAGA crowd is too stupid to understand that there are some things that you can actually prove. Like credit card receipts. It’s called “evidence” and Spanky is going to be finding out more about this soon.
ETA: Oh, yes, and the best part of that ny.eater.com article is the quote from the guy’s lawyer:
So…is this guy now claiming that someone else STOLE the guy’s card and happened to use it at the same eatery? Has the guy reported this to his credit card company? Is he contesting it? Someone had to have signed it – if not him, then who???
Questions, questions…
Methinks the guy is a total idiot and his ambulance-chaser lawyer (partner at “Dewey, Cheatem and Howe”) realizes that he has a sucker on the hook: someone who’s willing to pay out plenty of $$ for hot air.
Hey, even crooked lawyers have to make a living. Just ask Michael Cohen.
donnie’s every utterance and gesture offends my sense of being American.
Yes, it’s not a religion. It’s tribal. I find it very useful, and revealing, to understand the divide in these terms. Keep your tribe out of my tribe’s bar. What we need is intermarriage among the tribes. That’s going to take a while, so be patient.

Better drink somewhere else, snowflake.
The bar’s lawyer pointed out that only religious beliefs are protected under state and city laws, saying that “supporting Trump is not a religion.”
Really? If Trump tweeted out everyone should kill their first born son there would be a helluva lot of funerals conducted in the ensuing weeks.
Go to any Megachurch and they will tell you that yes Trump was Sent by God and supporting him is religion.
Someone give that lawyer some sort of award.
Perhaps the bar has a sign stating “we have the right to refuse service to anyone.”
I’m not sure that I don’t disagree. In what sense is mindless Trump-worship not a religion?
I question my nationality over the fact that hockey and soccer are called “sports” and played in the U.S. How the hell that state of affairs isn’t universally considered offensive is a mystery.
90 minutes of running around and the contest is knotted zero-zero? Geez, just go back to Argentina, will you?
“…supporting Trump is not a religion.”
Correct-a-mundo. It is a cult.
