Discussion: Trump Spox Dismisses Criticism That He 'Misspoke' As 'Speaking Off The Cuff'

Which is why speaking off the cuff is a really bad idea for politicians; however, the GOP only have themselves to blame. After all, after 30 years or more of their never ending attacks on politicians and teleprompters, they’ve gotten their perfect candidate- a racist, misogynistic bigot who has no filter on his mouth.

Despite what the media says, at least Sanders has rehearsed what he is going to say even if what he says is honest.

I wish somebody would ask Katrina Pierson if Trump is willing to acknowledge that it was a tremendous lapse in judgment to hire Katrina Pierson. But then I wish for lots of things. : (

Good God, Katrina. Bring back the Hope Hicks.

Pierson is skilled at shoveling bull shit as fast as she can, but it’s still bull shit.

Katrina Pierson is hoping to be the Dana Perino of the Donnie Dimwit administration… everyone should have a dream and/or aspiration…

“Mr. Trump answered the question. He just answered it after Chris Matthews said, ‘But for women?’ and he just said, ‘Yes.’ Because Mr. Trump was speaking about the legality. This was a hypothetical context of something happening that was illegal. Mr. Trump was just reinstating that if something’s illegal, yes, they should be punished. That’s why he clarified, for distinguishing the difference between the woman and the actual person committing the procedure that’s not legal.”

Except that’s not true at all. Not even remotely.

Here’s the actually transcript:

MATTHEWS: Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no as a principle?
TRUMP: The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment.
MATTHEWS: For the woman.
TRUMP: Yeah, there has to be some form.
MATTHEWS: Ten cents? Ten years? What?
TRUMP: I don’t know. That I don’t know. That I don’t know.
MATTHEWS: Why not?
TRUMP: I don’t know.
MATTHEWS: You take positions on everything else.
TRUMP: Because I don’t want to – I frankly, I do take positions on everything else. It’s a very complicated position.

I give Katrina an ‘A’ for showing up to work everyday. It must be one of the most demanding jobs out there, even if you do DO like lying, because she’s gotta be fast on her feet with the lies Donnie tells. That, and she must get paid exceptionally well.

Yeah he ‘misspoke’…which is why hours after THIS BS, The Donald accused MSNBC of ‘editing’ the tape to show him in a bad light when everyone KNOWS that he would never say a woman should be PUNISHED…despicable.

I don’t give a fuck. There are some things you don’t mis-speak about. Ever.

Why not ask if Ted Cruz gave her an orgasm?

I just want to know what “miss-speaking” is…what does that mean?

Indeed. And don’t forget the follow up question if men should be held responsible…and Trump said nope, because…external plumbing.

He knew precisely what the question was, and was answering precisely about women. He wants them “punished” for getting abortions, and wants the men who get them pregnant to suffer zero consequences.

Keep this in mind with his past statement about children…that he doesn’t want to deal with them, that’s what women are for.

When you tie it all together, you have a tapestry of an incredibly misogynistic world view…women exist merely as breeders and to raise the little rug rats. Men exist to freely spread our seed far and wide so that women can achieve their reason for being. And any woman who tries to stop that should be targeted for criminal prosecution.

This is a massive attempt at rewriting recent history AND going with the “gotcha” journalism defense, all rolled into one. I suspect it will end soon, as it becomes clear that its a completely indefensible point, and they are better off just changing the subject.

aka…“LOOK! A SQUIRREL!!!” strategy.

It wasn’t a hard question and Matthews gave him every opportunity to walk what he said back. Let’s face it Mr. Durmpf answered the question the very logical way every anti-abortion politician wants to answer it but can’t because their trade doesn’t want to face the real life consequences of their heartlessness in the name of Jesus.

“…Mr. Trump, that’s actually one of his appeals,” Pierson said.

“… It just depends on which side of his mouth he is speaking out of,” said the tap-dancing Stepford Spokesperson

That makeup factory who doubles as the Trump spox will hopefully realize that the nation finally comes to its senses, eventually, about idiots who run for national office and pride themselves on speaking off the cuff - as in, $arah who?

“I think if you’re a political candidate for eight months, you are
speaking off the cuff. Mr. Trump, that’s actually one of his appeals,”
Pierson said.
…
Mmmkay…was it “off the cuff” when Trump thought giving nukes to Japan and S. Korea was a brilliant idea? Now those allies are all in a tizzy over his “off the cuff” pontifications. Not to mention it is against the Japanese Constitution for them to build nukes FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. Or has The Donald and his minions forgotten World War Two and how that was brought to an end???
Trump and his crew really scare me.

Yea, really amazing how little attention is paid to all the loose nuke talk. Friggin’ nuclear weapons. What is he going to say after - that he mis-nuked?

I like “off the cuff”. It makes for a more interesting speech and you often find out what someone really thinks, as opposed to when they read a speech verbatim.

But in Trump’s case, I’ll make an exception. I really don’t want to know what’s going on inside his head. Maybe he should stick to a teleprompter?

It usually means that the truth escaped.
