Discussion: Trump Signs Order To Keep Migrant Families Detained Together Indefinitely

Actually I think she still has some agita from the chili con cucarachas the kitchen staff made for her at that Mexican restaurant last night,

said they are still counting on Congress to pass bills to permanently change U.S. immigration law to allow the administration to prosecute and detain families indefinitely.

As in, forever? Illegally detaining children is bad enough (AND the kids most likely won’t be united with their parents) but making crossing the border punishable by life in prison? Yep, the Dems that the Rethugs for giving our base the needed incentive to turn out in Nov.

There are still babies and children who have been sent to other states, Michigan, for example. Are they going to be reunited with parents? What about the children whose parents have already been deported?

This inhumane and cruel treatment has already done lots of damage, some of which is irreversible.

Well, they definitely intend to make a sequel to this horror show.

It looks like the plan to address a misdemeanor is to devour an indefinite amount of time (years maybe?) of the accused.

Indefinite detention. Seems legit. Why would we ever ascribe any nefarious intent to such a rule?

So in the spirit of Muslim Ban 2.0, is this Baby Jails 2.0?

The only problem being that the courts have already held the government can’t hold children indefinitely, which he knows.

So when the courts tell him his order is illegal, he’ll blame it on the courts and the Dems and he’ll say, ā€œsee, I was right all along and I couldn’t fix it with an executive order.ā€

Back to calling, emailing, marching on our reps. Do not let them think this is the end of our outrage.

The damage has barely begun. There will be a very public push to reunite the families and it will slowly sink in that there was no plan for that. Some kids were sent to some pretty shady places. There will be stories of abuse, drugs, and other things. The stories coming out of this will get very, very ugly. The icing on the cake will be realizing it cost $775 per kid per day to do this. This is a permanent stain on our nation’s soul.

It’s as though he wants a medal, a pat on the head, or maybe a rolled-up magazine to the bottom, for addressing a problem that he himself created.

Trump constantly cries in public. He is one of the greatest cowards that has ever lived? To paraphrase Trump, ā€œSAD.ā€

While they spend the coming days trying to have it both ways, a child will die in custody. Tick…tock…tick…tock…

Volunteers are helping parents find their children, and parents are helping each other with phone numbers to get information. The ACLU and other legal volunteers are at the detention centers, too. I think some families will be reunited, but not all. Implementation of the cruel policy was a royal fuckup from the beginning.

I think Josh wrote something to this effect. Seems right on. Definitely not what it’s portrayed to be.
