Discussion: Trump Signs New Trade Pact With Canada, Mexico Leaders To Replace NAFTA

It is simply an updated version of NAFTA renamed so Trump can have a win. So much winning.

Good timing. Now Mexico can feel less embarrassed when they blow Jared “Full Metal Jackass” Kushner by awarding him the Order of the Aztec Eagle. All the best people yada yada yada.

Just because he calls it new, doesn’t mean the media has to go along.

It’s NAFTA 2.0, and responsible media should present it as such.

I think the headline is misleading.

Trudeau called it the New NAFTA.

that he called “groundbreaking” and a benefit for “working people.”
The U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement is meant to replace the 24-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement, which Trump has long denigrated as a “disaster.”

Motherfucking AP can’t even be bothered with a single syllable of context.

I’m genuinely interested if there is someplace that lists the differences between this and NAFTA.

Interesting in this Krugman editorial he mentions automation being part of the reduction in workforce. My companies CEO mentioned just the other day that the poultry processing industry who we make equipment for is having trouble keeping workers so that is pushing them toward automation.

Other issue krugman points out is that Donald is too dumb to know he doesn’t know how to bring jobs back and probably never will.

So question in last paragraph

But the real question isn’t whether Trump will ever realize that he doesn’t know how to MAGA. It’s whether and when his supporters will figure it out. I guess we’ll learn the answer in the months ahead.

Dear (AP),

I take issue with your description of the residents as “chittering”. We chide, we chat, we challenge. We do not “chitter”. Obviously, your reporter did not bother to interview any residents, in spite of their availability daily, 9am -1pm in our glorious city park. Had you done so, you would have realized your ignorance, and perhaps not written such a wishy-washy both-sides-chew-it screed.

The trade agreement was signed by Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. On Saturday, Andrés Manuel López Obrador was sworn in as the next President of Mexico.

If I was a trade negotiator, I’d be asking what President Obrador thinks about the proposed agreement
because if he doesn’t support it, it won’t get very far.
