wasn’t there a story last week that said 10% of graduating college students thought Judge Judy was already on the Supreme Court…?
Yes. ((Deep breath)) I know I wasn’t the brightest thing or even totally up on the inner-minutia of the court system when I was 18, 19 and 20 – but, I damn sure sight knew none of the SCOTUS justices at that time had their own daytime tv show. I mean, damn.
… yes, our children is learning…
Notice the tone of all this: the um-well-uh quality, like he knows his audience and he knows what he needs to say. I think Trump stands out for Not being a real ideologue. I doubt he gives a damn about same sex marriage.
Cruz would have answered that question like a Calvinist judge at a witch trial.
And opposite-sex alimony.
And give Sarah Palin a cabinet post.
Reality TV is the new reality.
I agree. Up until he showed a seriousness to his supposed desire to actually run a real race, he never once mentioned SSM except to say something low-key like “Well, I’m old school and believe in tradition.” That’s not a direct quote but the gist of what I can remember him saying sometime last summer. Since he deals with all kinds of wealthy people and has hob-nobbed all his life, I’m guessing he knows a lot of gay people, even some he might consider close friends, etc. The man is NYC through and through.
I think Donald Trump is so caught up in the whirlwind of being in the spotlight that he’s now responding like any true addict – he will say and do pretty much anything to make sure the good times don’t go away.
He’s “old school.” Marriage is between one man and a series of trophy wives.
I think he needs a sit down with his Attorney, Michael Cohen, who is a registered Democrat to explain to him how judges get to be confirmed.
You know something I’ve been thinking about the last few months is this: Does Mr. Trump realize–really understand–the damage he’s doing to his “brand?” He butters his bread by how well his “brand” can sell. By denigrating all Mexicans and all Muslims so thoroughly and now pretty much telling LBTQ people to go back into whatever closet they can find, he may find the world a much tougher place in which to do business when he eventually loses either the GOP nominee race or the general. Mexicans, Muslims and gay folk have friends and family – so the group he pisses off is far larger than he seems to realize.
He’s a megalomaniac who doesn’t think long-term.
I have to admit, that had not occurred to me. Brilliant.
I suppose the only way it could reach SCOTUS again would be if a State were to ban gay marriage. Gay couple sues the state. Lower courts rule against the State, but the State keeps appealing it at higher levels until they are once again in a position to seek certiorari to SCOTUS.
Beat me to it. I was going to list the number of groups who hate him and would never vote for him and was going to add LBGT to it.
Thanks for saving my fingers!
Which, of course, fits neatly with most conservatives’ way of thinking – critical thinking is a no-no. For Trump, it comes naturally.
Sort of OT, but it makes me wish I’d somehow had my world handed to me on a silver platter like Trump’s was and his kids’ as well. In the real world, they’d eventually succumb to bitter anger.
Consider this through the lens that Trump is trying to tank Republican chances in the general election: does this statement fire up larger Democratic or Republican turn out?
D for sure. Republicans always vote.
Bingo.
Double Bingo! Democrats and independents for sure. As TeenLaQueefa noted, the Republicans already vote in very large numbers. For them (Repubs), there is nowhere near the growth potential the Dems have.
LOL – I swear, there is a small–very small, but still there–part of me that still wonders if Trump isn’t truly trolling the Republicans. Since he is a megalomaniac on such a huge scale, I’m easily persuaded he’s convinced himself he can and will win the White House. I don’t think he will – by a long shot. Again, all that aside, he is such a cartoonish character to such a large degree – it’s just tough to take him seriously and even take his sincerity seriously.
It also strikes me how really off the wall more than half the Republican base seems to be. For such a large number of Republicans to stand with Trump just tells me how idiotically they view reality.
Can someone please ask the same question a month from now just for the fuck of it?
There’s an even chance he’ll give the opposite answer and start making a strident speech about Cuba if he’s challenged on it.
I can’t shake that thought either.
