Discussion: Trump Says He Saw 'Love' From Black Pastors Despite Lack Of Endorsements

Discussion for article #243289

ā€œThe blacks all LOVEā€ him - he SAID so. The only reason they didn’t all endorse him is they CAN’T, or else they’ll offend #BLM. So, that’s the SAME as an endorsement, because #BLM is wrong and bad and terrible, and they HATE Trump - but they’re also black, so these pastors can’t endorse him! And the only reason for what’s going on. All the blacks love him except for the ones who hate him!

Sadly, we must be reminded that the only ā€˜love’ drumphie has known is that which he pays for since his parents died!
The’ look of love’ is not in his purview.

Of course he saw some love. Hell, for the right amount of money, some pastors would fellate a pig on national teevee.

And for Trump, there is a fine line between love and nausea.

What amazes me now, is that none of their lies are ever called out. In past elections, the occasional lie was confronted, but not anymore. Things that are being said today would have earned the candidate a very quick exit from the national stage. Now it earns them more supporters.

If Black Lives Matter then treat them as such. And Black Pastor that attended that event is an idiot. Trump can’t stand them but he needs them. That’s what that was about. No matter how it went down he was going to spin it as a love fest.

All those idiotic Pastors did was feed the beast.

ā€˜Supporters’ is the operative word. The truth is:

  • Trump has been in a position to create jobs in predominately black communities; his office towers, residential units, and golf resorts are built in wealthy white enclaves by a large percentage of undocumented workers.

  • A review of his financial records reveals that few, if any, charitable contributions have been given to programs that directly benefit the black community.

  • According to the company website, there is not a single black executive or key senior leader at The Trump Orginization.

  • He is on record for telling a colleague, ā€œBlack people counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of of people I want counting my money are little short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.ā€

  • Trump has been sued for housing discrimantion.

Trump may know his way around bankruptcy but history isn’t his strong suit.
The black vote(r) will not be there in the general election.

There’s all that and a couple more things: Days after the Central Park jogger story broke, Trump bought full-page ads screaming for the death penalty to be reinstated and using all kinds of other inflammatory language. (The penalty would have been applied against innocent people if he’d been listened to.) That kind of rhetoric speaks for itself. And then there’s the corollary bit of the birther situation where he was yelling to see Obama’s grades, the obvious suggestion being that Obama’s academic achievements weren’t fully earned and it was some sort of affirmative action thing. I doubt ā€œthe blacksā€ he claims to have such a warm and fuzzy relationship have forgotten any of that.

Once again Trump sees what he wants, regardless if anyone else sees it or not.

Additionally:

  • Trump blamed President Barack Obama for the unrest in Baltimore.
He wrote: ā€œOur great African American president hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are happily and openly destroying Baltimore.ā€

Like much of what Trump says he knows that a key part of messaging is simply throwing enough words together and an association will form in the listener’s mind. In this case: Obama equals ā€œthugā€.

This is the nature of dog-whistle racism. It’s David Duke with better marketing.
Why then, can Trump say it in a million different ways without consequence?

He can’t … and the black vote(ers) will never allow Trump to escape the consequence of his racist choices.
