Discussion: Trump Says He Cancelled Meeting With 'Failing' New York Times

What paper were you reading this year? Certainly not The Times.

We can now add ā€œcowardā€ to the other descriptive names for this man; liar, narcissist, con man, immature overgrown child…

Time for the media and the Dems to respond forcefully and directly. Use words like Trump is weak, scared, afraid, unprepared, unable/unwilling to go toe to toe with the media.

Hammer the apparent conflict of having a media publisher as a senior advisor - is Trump going to have sit down with the Brietbart Editorial Board - is that (and Twitter) how the messages from the bunker are going to be delivered? Enquiring minds want to know!

Oh dear, poor Donnie wants the NYT to be his PR machine.

Every time the Times writes about that person, they should include ā€œā€¦, who lost the popular vote by 1.5 million votes, ā€¦ā€

Hair Furor would be having twatter meltdowns daily.

Look, it’s up to the Democratic spokesmen to make this point loudly and often.

The Times should consider itself lucky.

Maybe he’s reading Mein Kampf for Dummies.

This is a similar situation when FDR had to fire Kennedy for his pro-Nazi overtures.

Except the UK could very well collaborate this time.

What’s amusing is that Farage is always saying that the British government shouldn’t take instructions from ā€œforeign governmentsā€ (i.e. the EU), but now thinks this is ok.

Fucking idiot TrumpenFuhrer thinks all newspaper and media should sign a non disclosure agreement before he consents to an interview.

Donald J. Trump is a fucking child. My god, he has the thinnest skin of anyone I’ve ever seen. Suck it up, Donnie!

This lunatic’s obsession with the NYT just defies imagination. The Times has an irrational hatred of Hillary, and they did not give the orange David Duke’s many conflicts attention prior to the election. Everything was about the emails, the Clinton foundation, and ā€œopticsā€. Was Krugman going to be at this meeting? Because if not, this is all a joke. IF, and that’s a big if, any mainstream newspaper delivers a knockout blow on this pos over the next 4 years, it’s not going to be the NYT, it’ll be WAPO. Or the Globe.

This is why I became a Prime member. I know Marshall is gearing up and TPM needs to be supported.

He’s very indiscriminate about those that get on his nerves. I think almost anyone could use various social media, blast him with insults and accusations of corruption and other slurs, and draw his ire. I think we’ll see several people and organizations attempt to drive him mad. He and his team will have two paths, learn to ignore critics or be driven to distraction constantly fending them off. My money is on his inability to ignore the chaff that’s coming his way.

That seals it. I’m subscribing to the NYT.

Make that 1.7 million votes, and counting.

I think we’re rapidly approaching the moment when the algorithms being put in place on Facebook and Google to trap fake news will start blocking Trump’s tweets.

As frightening as the general situation is, it’s strangely reassuring to see this impulsive, clueless wack job flailing around at the heart of it. It’s like the panicky late-night calls he made after he named Pence as veep, making a decision and then second-guessing and freaking out. Making hugely consequential 51-49 decisions and then living with the downsides of them, including a constant roar of criticism, isn’t part of the job, it’s all of the job. He never once thought about that. He can’t even set up a meeting without making a major drama out of it. And the pressure hasn’t even begun. Interesting.
