“repeal Obamacare and replace it with a new health care law at the same time, and that he would not agree to delay a replacement plan beyond a few weeks.”
Guaranteed - that “no more than a few weeks” will become 6 months then a year … then never
and the demented delusional Trump and GOP will put all energy into blaming the delay entirely on “Liberals”
Seriously! The funny thing here is that he probably does honestly believe that the GOP can come up with an ACA replacement really quickly — because 1) he knows nothing about what the ACA actually is or does; and 2) he paid no attention over the last 7 years as the GOP failed to come anywhere close to agreeing on a replacement approach. So he’s walking around in his idiotic little fantasy world now, thinking that if he just snaps his fingers, it’ll all work out! Simple.
Not only that, but as much as Republicans like to claim ACA was passed in the middle of the night and no one read the plan, we actually had a whole campaign about it in the run-up to the election and then about a year of Congressional activity–the ACA was signed in March 2010).
Does anyone know what the Republican plan is? Anyone?. There is not even a formal proposal. No hearings. Nada. The most we heard during the campaign was let insurance companies sell polices across state lines. And maybe replace the subsidies with tax credits (effectively the same thing unless they eliminate employer provided plans altogether and give everyone a tax credit=employer contribution–which would be a much much bigger change than ACA).
I, for one, hope President Obama is able to enjoy something stronger than popcorn if the entire Republican approach to “repeal” falls apart. Every President must have regrets and mixed feelings upon leaving office, but I cannot imagine how this President must feel about handing over the reins of government to DT.
Does anyone have a notion of what kind of changes they are now considering? It seems like they have backtracked to the point where they are basically talking about repealing “Obamacare,” renaming it “Republicansloveyoucare,” and putting it back, hoping no one will notice.
He’s only stupid if you think he actually cares about health insurance reform. What he cares about a lot more is looking like a man of action, and having someone else to blame if this doesn’t get done. If that’s his game, then it makes perfect sense for Trump to demand the impossible from Congress and then point the finger when it doesn’t happen.
