Discussion: Trump Says GOP Must Repeal And Replace Obamacare 'Together'

What you bring up is what the GOP has always understood about Rump:

He doesn’t understand, know or care about politics. Rump understands what’s good for Rump and goes about making that happen. He hasn’t the slightest idea about political life. He just a salesman.

This is quite bad for the GOP because it makes clear that the GOP and their leader aren’t on the same page. I’m thinking that Ryan, Pence and Yertle are marking the days on the calendar to when Rump is gone and I don’t think they’re looking at four years.

Mr Trump would have more time to study health care policy if he spent less time counting the number of evening gowns in Washington DC.

OT but could he have been told of an enthusiasm shortage for the ball? Excuse for not coming that the women folk just couldn’t find dresses?

He’s just giving himself cover. Since the Republicans can’t possibly find a replacement in a few weeks’ time, he is setting the stage for repeal with no replace, and blame Congress in 2020 when he runs for reelection.

I posted a link to an article here several weeks ago in which the author pondered the question of whether Trump was the creator of a new coalition (like FDR) or the last leader of a dying one (Carter). Look at a Congressional map from 1976 or 1978 and you’d think the Democratic Party would be invincible for decades, and yet it foundered over major policy disagreements. Watching the hardliners who hounded John Boehner for years retreat under their covers as they realize the corner they’ve painted themselves into is deeply cathartic. The so-called moderates are tamping on the brakes, but it’s not as though they have the answer (an ACA replacement plan palatable to a sufficient number of Republicans), either.

And keep in mind Carter was (and still is) a humble, intelligent man willing to accept criticism for the good of the country and his fellow Democrats. Trump is…not that.

Ryan: We will use Social Security to fund it along with tax cuts for the rich, all paid for by Social Security. Reagan said that deficit does not matter.

yep. He just likes the sound byte that “repeal and replace” gives him. We are going from a once in a generation mind (President Obama) to a 53 IQ (Orange Rapist).

Seriously…this is the “LEADERSHIP” his supporters yearned for? This is something a chicken shit, who had his father pay for 6 medical deferments would do…ohhhhhhhhhh.

He would have lied some more, believe me.

Indeed. Given that Trumplthinskin will just go with whatever seems to be trending on the Twitter, he is wide open to be played by the Dems. They just need to use a combination of name-calling and truth-telling to get under his skin and he’ll happily throw the Republicans under the bus.

I take some cold comfort in the fact that the sh*t storm coming our way will also have some poo flung towards Republicans too.

I already have Tivo set to record it. I know I will be in tears. I cried earlier when the ladies on The Real were discussing Michelle Obama’s farewell speech. I think it was then that it hit me that they will really be leaving — and then I remembered the people replacing them

He told the New York Times that Republicans should vote on repeal “probably some time next week,” and he said that the replacement should come “very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter."

Can this dolt be more vague? “Or simutaneously, very shortly thereafter”…? WTF is this word salad shit???

Gah they really are going to fuck this up arent they? I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry…

I’m trying to pinpoint his heart on this particular matter, and keep coming up with zilch. Oh, wait, I’m getting something – No money in it for him or his spawn so turns out he doesn’t give a shit.

But, rest assured, he’ll rant about whatever happens at his next rally anyhow.

No joke, I cried on the night Obama made his acceptance speech and it was because I thought America was on the right path.

I’ll cry at h8is farewell address because I know this country is going down a bad road from which we aren’t coming back from. I think Viola Davis was absolutely right when, addressing the reporters after the awards show said something to the effect that Rump is bad but he’s a sympton of something much worse in this country.

No way his fingers are that long.

Trump seemed confident that Republicans on the Hill would be able to repeal Obamacare very soon and come up with a replacement plan shortly thereafter.

Sounds right. How damned complicated can the medical insurance system be anyway? Trump should do it. He learned everything there was to know about nuclear missile technology in 90 minutes, this should be a snap.

***"It's something that somebody should do that knows how to negotiate and not the kind of representatives that I have seen in the past," he told the Washington Post in 1984. "It would take an hour-and-a-half to learn everything there is to learn about missiles…I think I know most of it anyway."***

Designing a replacement medical insurance program should take Trump, what, 30 minutes?

Agreed … that was “long” as in what he longs for.

Trump has just ordered the Republican Congress to vote on repeal “probably some time next week,” and to pass a replacement plan “very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter."

I’m looking forward to the Trumpian Twitter fusillade when neither of those events comes to pass.

It’s gonna be really hard. The Republicans have to come up with a plan before the Dems can oppose it. And there is no plan and there never will be.
