That ship has sailed. Decades ago. The GOP made a cynical but correct calculus that being covertly and overtly racist is a good way to get the white vote out. That will take decades to undo, but the GOP will likely be gone by then.

It’s fairly simple, Donald. Just reverse Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” of the late 1960s and early 1970s. When you invite all the racists and bigots to join your party, you end up with a party of racist bigots. If you want to appeal to racial and ethnic minorities you have to get rid of the racist bigots. You have to decide which is more important to your party, appealing to minorities or appealing to white supremacists and white nationalists. You can either have the backing of Stormfront, the American Nazi Party, and the Ku Klux Klan or you can have the African American vote, the Hispanic vote, and the Jewish vote. You can’t have both at the same time. How you go about this is up to you, but just saying “I want blacks to vote for me” or “I love Hispanics” isn’t going to do it.
