Tom Marino got a better offer from Big Pharma. And all the opioids he can give away…

Great vetting job by the White House. Who was in charge of it, Barron?

The Kushner of course! That is when he take time out from revamping taxes, revamping the government, defeating ISIS, and hammering out a lasting peace in the Middle East–it’s easy! Trust me!

Ok, Mango Mussolini, now how about dumping the Accu-Weather nominee who wants to privatize the U.S. Weather Service?

Documents probably exist that show Trump approving the nomination using the same reasoning that was used in nominating Rick Perry as Energy secretary, Pruitt as head of the EPA and Ben Carson at HUD. I wonder what will make Marsha withdraw from her senate race.

Memo to Democrats: This is a potentially huge weapon in 2018 in WWC districts. It’s a not a moment for a ‘vetting error’ narrative. Run ads about how the GOP pick for drug czar was the guy responsible for forcing opioids down the throats of Americans. Millions of families have been destroyed by this, and they will not take this shit lightly. Never mind that the GOP drug pusher withdrew. This was nothing less than a failed attempt to install a GOP drug pusher at the heart of the GOP administration. GOP created the opioid epidemic and wanted to aggravate it. Why? Because they are being paid off.

As my former hometown newspaper said many years ago, in describing a bona fide jerk who was returning to town to take over Dad’s business: “He’s a great guy and a great golfer.”

I agree, ads showing Trump promoting him and the number of deaths in Marino’s district.

Joe Manchin can already claim victory for this withdrawal in his election next year. The man is no fool.

This is what “deconstructing the administrative state” looks like in practice.

Just like Pruitt, Marino is bought, paid for, and beholden. Pruitt should never have gotten the job, am glad Marino is withdrawing. Get ready to bat down the next appointment.

Marino is from a very volatile district in PA. It’s in the “T” and basically solidly Republican, but has gone back and forth by huge swings. Marino defeated the Democratic incumbent in the 2010. He was thinking of running for Guv’ner in 2018. Maybe he might think better of that now. Meanwhile with the right candidate, this could be a pick up opportunity.

Complete incompetence or active sabotage of an agency’s mission hasn’t stopped any other appointees.

The times, they are a-changin’. Nine months ago, the obvious conflicts of interest and ties to the industrial right would have been an absolute qualification and he would have breezed through confirmation…

@realDonaldTrump - thanks for recognizing we need a drug czar who has seen the devastating effects of the problem. https://twitter.com/Sen_JoeManchin/status/919950046279471105

…rather than a guy who was instrumental in creating and perpetuating the problem.

Funny, Trump wouldn’t be cutting Marino loose if not for some fake news disseminated by 60 Minutes. This from a man that tells everyone to ignore mainstream news sources.

Now Trump can nominate Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán instead.

It was par on the course for Trump, at every agency he has been nominating people that hate the agency, see EPA, Education, State, HUD, Interior, Energy. Fox in the hen-house has been the rule. No surprises in DEA, maybe Trump will nowcheck the availability of Chapo Guzman.
