Discussion: Trump Says DACA Recipients Have 'Nothing To Worry About' For Six Months

With this WH which “assistant/adviser” has read, understood the differences, and informed Dear Leader what those pieces of legislation mean?

Complete inability to place himself in the shoes of another.

He seems to think that because he is not taking action for another six months that they have nothing to worry about. In his world, it is all about him and he is all that matters.

3 of the proposed bills are House bills. The Durbin/Graham bill is a proposed Senate bill.

Coffman is apparently trying to get discharge motion on his, to circumvent Ryan. Which doesn’t bode well for the other two bills getting through the Speaker, since it is the “kick the can” bill. Although it is quite possible that Ryan simply hasn’t spent any cycles on the matter yet…he does sort of have his plate full at the moment.

I think the reading between the lines analysis there is, Trump wants a DACA bill that funds his wall. And none of these proposed bills even mentions his wall.

I don’t believe the WH has commented on The American Hope bill, because it’s a Democratic only bill right now, and is a definite non-starter for Trump’s base. Likewise the Coffman bill doesn’t do anything beyond enshrining Obama’s EO into law (which is how Trump will view it when its eventually explained to him), so I don’t think they will like that one, either.

Personally, I think Democrats need to start getting behind one bill right now, and I think The American Hope Bill should be the one. We have been coy about Hispanic voters on immigration for far too long; its time to put up. The bill has the backing of the Hispanic Caucus and is by far the most progressive legislation regarding this matter on the table.

Be Bold! There are going to be many GOPers eager to get this thing done with quickly, so lets start from a the left instead of from the middle.

With his “Don’t worry” tweets and promises, how many DACA recipients whose permits expire before March 5 will incorrectly assume they do not have to apply to get the 2-year extension, or will assume that even if they do apply for the extension they won’t get it and thus do nothing. Every time Trump says or tweets something - about DACA or anything else - he just causes more confusion. And maybe that’s his purpose - he wants everyone to be as confused as he is.

I’m searching for a word. What’s the opposite of “empathy”? Assholiness?

Drumpf is a liar crook and cheat…they are already being advised to prepare to self deport.

Please read this and absorb in reflective parts…

The shame is ours.

Safe bet. Mikey won’t last long, either. Mueller has him in his sights, as well. RINO Ryan will wear the pin for a while, but he’s already toast with the vast majority of his Party. This all sets the stage for a genuine clean sweep in next year’s elections. And they’re coming up fast.

Beyond lack of planning, it borders on a loss of object permanence. Topics that are not the subject of Trump’s current focus cease to be. You are not in this instant being deported, ergo do not worry about being deported.

Compassionless.

Yeah, I am soooooo hoping Mikey gets caught in the sweep, which is looking more and more likely as time goes by, and that by the time everything bubbles to the surface, we have a Dem as Speaker when they both go down.

Of course, this is assuming that Donnie and Mikey both go down at roughly the same time, and that neither of them has a chance to derail the succession by inserting a new “clean” VP (à la Gerald Ford).

According to MSNBC, Nancy Pelosi, in a phone call, urged him to send out such a message. My first thought was that she hoping to lower the anxiety level and possibility of rash actions (quitting their jobs, acting out of despair in some way) and also to counter Jeff Session’s Pack Your Bags memo.

If Nancy P. could be the Trump whisperer and fake best friend, maybe we could avoid complete catastrophe until Mueller’s work is done.

After that, they have everything to worry about as the Trumpstapo ICE turns it up to 11. So easy to do, with all those DACA folks who registered.

The Dem’s job now is to make sure that there are no “clean” Republicans. Period. They have collectively worked with a foreign power to subvert the stability of this nation. If they didn’t do this directly, they collectively voted to support the actions of those who did. They are all guilty by association, and can not be trusted to ever lead this nation again. They have demonstrated their intent of ruining America for their own personal gains.

Nothing.
Nothing at all.

The dreamers are so messed up right now. They have to make (roughly) plans A-D: somewhere to go that’s not the US (but not their “home” country, possible ways to fight deportation, possible ways to survive in their “home” country, possible ways to survive in the US unofficially without endangering their families.

All the while keeping up their studies/jobs/lives, because in the not-too-likely event congress does sorta kinda fix things, they’ll still be on the hook for that.

Can no one around Trump make him understand even the most obvious practical concerns? What will employers do who are uncertain about the status of one of their key employees? Will dreamers currently in college pay for the January semester just in case they get to stay? Have they yet addressed those who are serving in the military right now? Edit: I just read joriep’s post saying that Nancy Pelosi’s “whispering” may have resulted in Trump’s latest statement to DACA recipients.
