Discussion for article #241825
You know, agreeing to play by Trump’s rules pretty much destroys the myth of “The Liberal Media.”
Trump’s dictatorial tendency is showing.
10 candidates giving opening and closing statements in a 2 hour debate. Not much time for actual debate. Not much time for Trump takedowns by the rest.
Our practice in the past has been to forego opening statements to allow more time to address the critical issues that matter most to the American people
Yeah, well, the problem with that is your leading candidate wants to spend less time, as in no time, addressing the critical issues because he has nothing of substance to say on any of them, he damn well knows it, and he’s a slick enough shyster salesman not to want to be tap dancing out there on stage any longer than he has to.
Too many candidates , cull the flock to the top 6…
Same goes for Carson. I’m sure JEB,Rubio and Cruz are hoping for a few dropouts soon. With a narrowed field and smaller group on stage in future debates, Trump,Carson and Fiorina’s weaknesses will be exposed.
They certainly are a nest.
Very, very easy to make the GOP clown show much shorter. Just post this list for all the RepubliKKKlan tools running and anything else can be wrapped up in about 2 or 3 minutes:
No Immigrants
No women’s reproductive rights
No decent healthcare for all
Bigger military
More War
No climate change
More tax breaks for the rich
10 Commandments in every school
Creationism is true
and many,many more guns
we’re done here…
We can certainly hope but Jesus, those last three have such already well-exposed weaknesses it’s hard to imagine what could make it worse. I mean, if Trump burst into tears and ran off the debate stage, or curled up on the floor in the fetal position, it might sway some of his following. Or not! As they say in the taut political thrillers, we’re through the looking glass here.
The Donald to CNBC: “You knew I was yooooge’! How does that feel baby?”
CNBC to The Donald: “Oh…oh…I don’t know. I can’t hold out much longer. It’s making me dizzy!”
The Donald to CNBC: “Take it! Take it! ~Ooooooooooooooo!~ Now, what do you think?”
CNBC to The Donald: “You’re the best. I’m so satisfied.”
The End of another fabulous episode of The Donald Does Politics.
Donnie, a debate isn’t an election.
sheesh
Problem is he shouldn’t be that damned obvious about it. But then we are dealing with full blown rubes here.
Y’all keep telling me that this dude is going to fizz out, but yet he’s still here
Poor Donald never heard of DEPENDS.
I suspect that was always the issue
Left wing commentator Michael Kinsley writing on Trump in this month’s VF. He concludes
Trump seems to be running because he thinks it would be cool to be president. No doubt that plays a role in the thinking of even as philosophical a candidate as Hillary Clinton. But with Trump, that’s all there is.
He hasn’t won a single vote yet, so far has only won at bombast in front of clueless crowds. Let’s wait until Trumpet tries to discuss the ramifications of leaving troops on the ground in Afghanistan for another year, and when his answer is to say he’ll charm the head of the government into reversing course, a fizz out will begin.
What I meant by that is that the first 3 can drop a few specific policy proposals and be head and shoulders above the latter 3.
Trumpet and Failurina share the hubris most other CEOs share including Ross Perot that simply by virtue of having been in a boardroom they are they only ones who can lead a very big and diverse government. They see a setting in which they bark out orders, they’re carried out and everyone lives happily after.
A friend of mine with knowledge of the business world once said he thought the main factors in business success were luck and a willingness to take chances. And being lucky can lead you to mistakenly believe you know it all. And as a fishing guide once told me, "When you get to thinking you know it all is when the fish gods slap you down and say, “You know nothing.’” Do the politics gods work the same way? Stay tuned, sports fans!
